The news comes years after The Federalist exclusively <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/26\/exclusive-in-private-cassidy-hutchinson-joked-about-riot-called-j6-committee-phony-praised-trump-before-changing-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exposed<\/a> Hutchinson for her contradictory claims on the subject.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Punchbowl News\u2019 Laura Weiss <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LauraEWeiss16\/status\/2108236424721859041?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on Thursday claims from unnamed sources that the DOJ Civil Rights Division \u201cbrought evidence to a federal grand jury on Tuesday and is expected to present more evidence and additional witnesses later this month\u201d in its pursuit of the sought-after indictment. The sources also reportedly told Weiss that Hutchinson \u201chas not been subpoenaed to appear before the grand jury\u201d at this time. <\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3314524898\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her June 2022 congressional testimony, Hutchinson made a series of grandiose claims about President Trump and her former White House colleagues regarding their conduct during the Jan. 6 riot. Among the many salacious allegations was her claim \u2014 based on \u201cthird-party conversations\u201d \u2014 that the president \u201ctried to violently hijack the presidential limousine to drive himself down to the rioters on Jan. 6,\u201d as The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/26\/exclusive-in-private-cassidy-hutchinson-joked-about-riot-called-j6-committee-phony-praised-trump-before-changing-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">summarized<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs an American, I was disgusted. It was unpatriotic,\u201d Hutchinson told Congress of the Jan. 6 events. \u201cWe were watching the Capitol building get defaced over a lie, and it was something that was really hard in that moment to digest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hutchinson\u2019s incredibly suspect testimony was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/29\/new-j6-narrative-about-trump-and-secret-service-collapses-hours-after-tuesday-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quickly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/20\/new-j6-transcript-contradicts-hutchinsons-claims-trump-went-grand-theft-auto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shot down<\/a> by key figures privy to the events of that day. That includes the driver of the president\u2019s limousine, who testified under oath that Trump never did what Hutchinson alleged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other witnesses and former White House officials aren\u2019t the only ones who have disputed Hutchinson\u2019s far-fetched claims, however. Communications from Hutchinson herself show the former Mark Meadows aide completely undermining the sob story she told Congress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway and Tristan Justice exclusively <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/26\/exclusive-in-private-cassidy-hutchinson-joked-about-riot-called-j6-committee-phony-praised-trump-before-changing-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> in these pages on roughly 18 months\u2019 worth of private chats \u201cbetween friends from the [first] Trump White House\u201d showing how Hutchinson \u201cdramatically changed her story about what she knew and how she felt about what she witnessed as a White House staffer.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The communications documented Hutchinson discussing \u201cwith other targets of the [J6 House Committee] probe about how little information she had about any wrongdoing that day, and lamented how corrupt the politicized committee was.\u201d \u201cFar from being upset with Trump,\u201d Hemingway and Justice wrote, \u201cHutchinson repeatedly spoke in favor of [Trump] and his presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/17\/house-republicans-expose-j6-committees-lies-cover-ups-scandals-in-new-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Republicans Expose J6 Committee\u2019s Lies, Cover-Ups, Scandals In New Report<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In one text message sent three months after the Jan. 6 riot, for example, Hutchinson said that she\u2019d \u201crather shoot myself dead into the Potomac than see marine one flying around this city without 45 again.\u201d Other communications showed Hutchinson telling a former colleague after she was subpoenaed by the J6 Committee that she had nothing to offer the \u201cphony\u201d committee.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional text messages revealed Hutchinson trashing committee members like then-Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wy., whom Hutchinson would later go on to embrace as part of her J6 flip-flop. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hutchinson also attempted to target Hemingway in her web of falsehoods. The former aide dishonestly contended that The Federalist editor-in-chief illegally obtained classified materials from Meadows, a claim which Hemingway <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MZHemingway\/status\/1869052022403854735?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denounced<\/a> as \u201cfalse\u201d and Congress found to be \u201centirely uncorroborated.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Justice did not respond to The Federalist\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
