The page also includes embedded videos and promotional content.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><br \/>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\"><br \/>\n<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><html><body><\/p>\n<section> \t\t\t\t<script>console.log(\"ad slot (AC1)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC1)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC2)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC3)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC4)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (REP_0)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (REP_1)\")<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well, it turns out not every liberal actor in Hollywood harbors unhinged hate for conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>(Though many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woke-reacher-star-alan-ritchson-admits-studio-begged-keep-mouth-shut-politics-refused-film-bombed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">certainly do<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Marvel actor Sebastian Stan \u2014 perhaps best known for playing the Winter Soldier \u2014 appeared on \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d to discuss his upcoming film \u201cFjord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, somewhat surprisingly given what we know of Stan\u2019s politics, the actor actually had a very easy pathway to attack conservatives \u2014 and didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Kosta, one of the rotating hosts of \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d \u2014 a progressive parody of cable news \u2014 spoke to Stan on Wednesday about his upcoming movie.<\/p>\n<p>And before we go any further, here is a quick recap of \u201cFjord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mihai Gheorghiu, who is portrayed by Stan, and Lisbet Gheorghiu, portrayed by Renate Reinsve, are a devout evangelical Christian couple with five children who move from Romania to a remote Norwegian fjord, where Lisbet was originally from.<\/p>\n<p>The Gheorghiu family\u2019s faith means they raise their children in a conservative manner \u2014 putting them at immediate odds with the fjord\u2019s liberal populace.<\/p>\n<p>Things come to a head when Mihai\u2019s daughter shows up to school with bruises, and the entire town immediately casts aspersions on the family, with authorities eventually hauling all five children away.<\/p>\n<p>And now a spoiler warning: Lisbet struggles mightily to cope with the loss of her children, while Mihai rallied other conservative Christian networks across the world to support his case.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the movie deliberately avoids answering the question of who, or what, caused the daughter\u2019s bruises. The movie intentionally leaves this ambiguous \u2014 maybe Mihai is abusive, maybe the daughter got bruised while wrestling at school, or maybe the daughter got hurt while playing games with neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>The movie ultimately seems more interested in exploring what happens when cultures clash \u2014 the liberal fjord folks are not presented in an especially gracious manner, often seeming rigid and paranoid \u2014 instead of ascribing villainy to any side.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/frg59VOungA?si=lYSdhYtXlV3SDI-n\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But that brings us back to Wednesday\u2019s Daily Show appearance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people might characterize the themes of this movie as fairly conservative,\u201d Kosta said. \u201cWhat\u2019s your response to that? Are people overthinking it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I mean, I think that\u2019s a pretty fair assessment, but that shouldn\u2019t necessarily cancel out the issues that this family is facing or that the feelings that they have and the desire that they have to raise the kids in the best way they can,\u201d Stan replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s probably always, on either side, that there needs to be an opening of a door, you know, for more of a back and forth to happen,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, when did conservative become so wrong, I guess? I didn\u2019t really grow up in that kind of a religious environment, but as long as there\u2019s curiosity, at least, instead of immediate judgment, maybe there\u2019s something else there,\u201d Stan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if a family is trying to stay together, we should at least give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they\u2019re trying to do it for the right reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2026 is a shockingly good response, especially for a liberal actor who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marvel-actors-trump-portrayal-upcoming-biopic-gets-savaged-expecting-different-voice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was flamed<\/a> for his antagonistic portrayal of a young Donald Trump in the biopic \u201cThe Apprentice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fair is fair, and I genuinely wish more actors adopted Stan\u2019s approach to conservatism.<\/p>\n<p>(Which, I should note, is a fairly new approach, given that Stan once told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/apprentice-sebastian-stan-trump-1236052986\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that Trump was a \u201cparanoid, scared little man.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nHFDl3J5YZw?si=7esqnGgwYWj7snEe\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The most refreshing part of Stan\u2019s response is that he didn\u2019t endorse conservatism, renounce liberalism, or pretend that ideological differences don\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n<p>He simply acknowledged that conservative Christians are human beings whose beliefs deserve to be understood before they\u2019re condemned.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s Hollywood, that\u2019s a surprisingly radical concept.<\/p>\n<p>Stan\u2019s politics may not have changed, and that\u2019s perfectly fine.
