You would think former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nclalegal.org\/press_release\/ncla-suit-former-special-counsel-jack-smith-unlawfully-seized-sen-blackburns-phone-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Special Counsel\u201d<\/a> Jack Smith\u2019s myriad abuses in the political witch hunt known as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/06\/jack-smiths-twisting-of-justice-makes-the-case-for-anti-weaponization-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arctic Frost<\/a> would be of concern to the same \u201cjournalists\u201d screaming that the Fourth Estate is under attack by the man they love to hate. <\/p>\n<p>Nope. <\/p>\n<p>After Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released bombshell revelations last week about Arctic Frost\u2019s tactics, the usual suspects in the accomplice media shrugged off the damning documents. Instead, they wrote the same fatuous story pulled from the Democratic Party\u2019s talking points \u2014 a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/6119172-schmitt-smith-basketball-mixup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gotcha piece<\/a> on Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt\u2019s botched gotcha moment during last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/committee-activity\/hearings\/oversight-of-jack-smiths-abuse-of-authority-and-the-targeting-of-republicans-and-related-matters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Judiciary Committee hearing.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2026\/09\/29\/senators-basketball-mixup-derails-gotcha-moment-jack-smith-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cSenator\u2019s basketball mix-up derails \u2018gotcha\u2019 moment at Jack Smith hearing,\u201d<\/a> the Washington Post\u2019s headline snickered. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/09\/29\/us\/politics\/jack-smith-congress-testimony.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cAs Jack Smith Testifies, a Senator\u2019s Accusation of Perjury Falls Apart,<\/a>\u201d The New York Times sneered. <\/p>\n<p>The puns, per usual, were pitiful. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/senator-eric-schmitt-jack-smith-basketball-perjury-rcna600546\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cGOP senator airballs perjury claim against Jack Smith over apparent Hawks\/Hawkeyes mix-up,\u201d<\/a> NBC News quipped. <\/p>\n<p>And Politico went full-on snarky with its headline, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2026\/09\/29\/congress\/jack-smith-senate-judiciary-testimony-caitlin-clark-01096763\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eric Schmitt pins down Jack Smith \u2014 as a Caitlin Clark fan.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>No doubt the Missouri Republican got his facts messed up, on timelines and basketball teams. But Schmitt was right on target when he called the partisan prosecutor a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-leader.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/09\/30\/missouri-senator-schmitt-calls-jack-smith-dirtbag-viral-error\/92026047007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cdirtbag.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And right on cue, corporate media carried water for the unctuous attorney, covering for Smith, with the ubiquitous Schmitt story drowning the stunning revelations from Grassley and the Judiciary Committee. <\/p>\n<p>No, you can\u2019t hate the misnamed \u201cmainstream media\u201d enough. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Deafening\u2019 Silence<\/h2>\n<p>As The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/06\/jack-smiths-twisting-of-justice-makes-the-case-for-anti-weaponization-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/press\/rep\/releases\/breaking-jack-smith-obtained-journalist-communications-with-government-sources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> whistleblower disclosures<\/a> to Grassley show Smith \u201cswept up communications from over a dozen national media outlets\u201d in his sprawling \u201celection interference\u201d probe into President Donald Trump\u2019s challenges of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s?k=rigged+mollie+hemingway&#038;hvadid=695138770549&#038;hvdev=c&#038;hvexpln=67&#038;hvlocphy=9017942&#038;hvnetw=g&#038;hvocijid=2253020645725279788--&#038;hvqmt=e&#038;hvrand=2253020645725279788&#038;hvtargid=kwd-1328552445357&#038;hydadcr=22563_13531175&#038;mcid=e4ff2995e5f53934b466a5d853607127&#038;tag=googhydr-20&#038;ref=pd_sl_ldc77wt5l_e_p67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rigged<\/a> 2020 election. <\/p>\n<p>Whistleblower disclosures made to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), show that former Special Counsel Jack Smith swept up communications from over a dozen national media outlets as part of the \u201cArctic Frost\u201d election investigation into President Trump. The records expose Smith and friends grabbing the communications of nearly 50 journalists, including those of Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway, Grassley said. Investigators scooped up \u201cmessages exchanged with government sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news outlets included:<\/p>\n<p>\u203a Fox News <\/p>\n<p>\u203a CNN <\/p>\n<p>\u203a CBS News (including<em> 60 Minutes<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>\u203a NBC News<\/p>\n<p>\u203a CNBC <\/p>\n<p>As well as print and digital news outlets: <\/p>\n<p>\u203a The Federalist <\/p>\n<p>\u203a The Wall Street Journal <\/p>\n<p>\u203aThe Washington Post<\/p>\n<p>\u203a Bloomberg<\/p>\n<p>\u203a The Los Angeles Times<\/p>\n<p>\u203a New York Magazine<\/p>\n<p>\u203a The Washington Times <\/p>\n<p>Wire Services:<\/p>\n<p>\u203a Reuters <\/p>\n<p>\u203a The Associated Press <\/p>\n<p>Radio:<\/p>\n<p>\u203a<em>The Mark Levin Show<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>\u203a National Public Radio <\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Media Research Center,<\/a> which tracks and calls out corporate media bias, also saw its communications picked up in Smith\u2019s fishing expedition. <\/p>\n<p>CNN, which has camped out on the fainting couch over Trump pulling its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/09\/24\/politics\/trump-press-lawsuit-ruling-white-house-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">White House press pass<\/a> for beyond-biased coverage of the administration, had plenty to say about the Schmitt glitch but not much at all about popping up in Arctic Frost files. NBC News reporters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/justice-department\/senate-gop-press-jack-smith-trump-jan-6-probe-doj-targets-investigator-rcna600306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spent plenty of ink<\/a> pushing the noble prosecutor narrative, but the corporate media outlet seems incurious as to why its communications showed up in Smith\u2019s records grab. Politico, also booted from the White House press pool before a judge stepped in, loosely reported on the revelations but turned the attack on freedom of the press on its head. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrassley\u2019s release of these materials is part of a broader effort by the Iowa Republican and other Trump allies to portray Smith as a reckless or overaggressive prosecutor in his pursuit of criminal cases against Trump during the Biden administration, which many GOP lawmakers believe were politically motivated,\u201d the left-wing publication <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2026\/07\/14\/congress\/jack-smith-investigation-update-00997825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>David Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, said the silence from corporate media \u201chas been so deafening you almost have to think they were in on it the whole time.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the coverage of the hearing has been on something to embarrass Sen. Schmitt,\u201d Bozell told The Federalist in an interview. \u201cSo he fumbled that, but you can\u2019t discount what Smith had in his possession or what he may still have \u2026 It doesn\u2019t seem to bother anybody that a liberal, rogue prosecutor has those communications in his possession.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Bozell notes what is irrefutably true: if the shoe were on the other foot, if a Republican special counsel had done the same in a sweeping investigation of Democrats, the story would be leading every evening newscast for weeks. <\/p>\n<p>So it should come as no surprise that these same self-righteous reporters insisting they are saving democracy from dying in darkness don\u2019t seem all that interested in Smith and crew issuing nearly 200 subpoenas for records \u201crelating to 430 Republican individuals and organizations, or the collection of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/09\/29\/jack-smith-seized-nearly-5000-checks-written-by-trump-donors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly 5,000<\/a> checks from mainly small-dollar Trump donors,\u201d as Ben Weingarten <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/07\/if-jack-smiths-goons-dont-pay-for-their-crimes-innocent-americans-will\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> Wednesday in The Federalist.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is as unsurprising as it is depressing that legacy media outlets have been silent on Smith\u2019s overreach, even though employees of those outlets had their messages pilfered by zealous FBI and DOJ officials, operating as hitmen for one political party in its effort to eliminate the other political party,\u201d Weingarten wrote. \u201cThe same is true of the fact that the journalists silent today over this brazen operation were yesterday screaming bloody murder that the Trump administration revoked the privileged White House access of their leftist apparatchik colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018In Desperate Need\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The Democrat media stooges\u2019 sins of omission include a complete lack of interest in covering some other damning documents The Oversight Project has obtained. Smith\u2019s team, according to emails, were in \u201cdesperate\u201d need of acquiring spying tools in July 2023 in their race to knock Trump out of the running. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in desperate need of this software and want to have it installed as soon as possible. Let us know if there are any problems or questions,\u201d urges an Arctic Frost investigator\u2019s July 12 email to Axon Investigate in search of evidence-processing software. The system, according to the company, \u201creviews footage from hundreds of third-party proprietary video formats without altering metadata or risking aspect ratio and frame rate distortions.\u201d Axon Investigate\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/forbes\/videos\/axon-says-ai-police-reports-save-time-public-records-show-they-get-facts-wrongmo\/1590853982744448\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parent company<\/a> operates in the same license-plate detection space as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/video\/news\/local\/lafayette-takes-first-step-to-dump-flock\/73-ad4d706f-e9ac-42ed-a3b7-7212c1995a23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Flock<\/a>, and it has encountered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2026-10-06\/los-angeles-city-council-lapd-axon-license-plate-reader-contract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">similar privacy controversies<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJack Smith turned federal law enforcement against President Trump and Republicans.
