That comment was relayed by a friend of a now-arrested terror suspect in Texas named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-terror-plot-targeting-tx-capitol-foiled-alleged-attacker-hated-israeli-lobbying-org-aipac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benny Caldera Jr.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Caldera allegedly planned to target the Texas state capitol last week for a mass casualty event.<\/p>\n<p>SWAT officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested him early Wednesday morning after Caldera\u2019s friend reported to police that Caldera had made verbal threats to assault the Texas State Capitol building.<\/p>\n<p>According to the arrest documents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-terror-plot-targeting-tx-capitol-foiled-alleged-attacker-hated-israeli-lobbying-org-aipac\/\">Caldera told his pal<\/a>, \u201cI love you, if you don\u2019t see me again \u2026 I am going to the Capitol, and I am going to shoot it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And why did Caldera plan to slaughter Texas lawmakers, the majority of whom happen to be Republicans?<\/p>\n<p>Well, he was furious at AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, saying \u201cThese people have to be exterminated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case you don\u2019t know, AIPAC is an American lobbying organization that works to promote the close military, economic, and cultural alliance between the United States and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>But to the anti-Israel crowd, AIPAC is the equivalent of what the Rothschild conspiracies are to anti-Semites. (And by the way, it\u2019s getting harder and harder to tell the difference between the anti-Israel crowd and the anti-Semitic crowd.)<\/p>\n<p>In reality, however, AIPAC is a boogeyman that pulls double duty.<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, anti-Israel activists hate and fear it. On the other, they use it as a scapegoat, blaming it for many of America\u2019s problems. For these people, it\u2019s simultaneously a real boogeyman that frightens them, and a made-up (and very convenient) boogeyman designed to frighten others.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone from Ilhan Omar and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trans-shooters-journal-featured-newest-dem-catchphrase-left-squad-cheering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Squad<\/a> to Tucker Carlson and the so-called Woke Right points to AIPAC or its ilk as manipulating American politicians and public opinion by pouring Israeli (read: Jewish) money into America and buying off every power broker they can find. But is that true?<\/p>\n<p>Not remotely, and the problems with the claim are legion. First off, AIPAC doesn\u2019t take Israeli government money, and it\u2019s not a registered foreign agent. What it spends is money raised in America, and even if that weren\u2019t the case, take a look at scale.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, federal lobbying hit a whopping record of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/federal-lobbying\/top-clients?year=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$4.4 billion<\/a>. What do you think AIPAC\u2019s contribution and percentage of that was? It was a paltry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/american-israel-public-affairs-cmte\/summary?id=D000046963\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$3.3 million<\/a>. That\u2019s not 5 percent, not 1 percent; it doesn\u2019t even reach 0.5 percent. It\u2019s 0.08 percent.<\/p>\n<p>How does that compare to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/federal-lobbying\/top-clients?year=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other lobbying orgs<\/a>? The National Association of Realtors in 2024 spent $86 million lobbying. Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing of America: $32 million. The American Hospital Association: $29 million. Meta\/Facebook: $24 million.<\/p>\n<p>What about other governments, you might ask? In the same year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/fara\/countries\/79?cycle=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japan<\/a> spent $64 million. That\u2019s 19x what AIPAC spends. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/fara\/countries\/102?cycle=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liberia<\/a> spent $54 million, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/fara\/countries\/41?cycle=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saudi Arabia<\/a> shelled out $ 61 million. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/fara\/countries\/73?cycle=2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Israel<\/a> shelled out a whopping $6.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>Critics will say, \u201cSure, but look at what AIPAC contributes to American political candidates. They buy them off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OK, let\u2019s talk about that. In 2024, AIPAC spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/industries\/contrib?cycle=2024&#038;ind=Q05\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$17 million in support of GOP candidates<\/a>. That sounds like a lot, but it\u2019s not nearly as much as the $25 million AIPAC spent on DEMOCRATIC candidates. That\u2019s 1.5x more spent on Democrats, the party of AIPAC-haters, than on Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>When people like our terror suspect in Texas let AIPAC motivate deranged actions, they confirm that the lies about Israel, Jews, and AIPAC have formed a boogeyman that exists only in their minds \u2026 until Jewish Americans\u2019 blood spills into the streets, at which point it becomes all too real.<\/p>\n<p>When the media and politicians push lies to advance agendas, there are more consequences than just changes at the ballot box. There are changes in people\u2019s psychology, in their behavior. Some of those people will seriously consider picking up rifles, loading up U-Hauls with explosives, or flooring accelerators and plowing SUVs into helpless crowds \u2026 all the while believing they are fighting for good and against evil.<\/p>\n<p>Truth matters, and lies kill.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><i><b>The views expressed in this opinion article are those of their author and are not necessarily either d or endorsed by the owners of this website.
