A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/police-say-they-have-no-records-to-support-claim-that-mob-of-racist-whites-surrounded-fani-willis-home\/\" title=\"Police state no evidence backs the claim of a racist white mob surrounding Fani Willis&#039; home\">neighbor called police<\/a> the next day upon discovering the body. She had been stabbed more than a dozen times. Later accounts of the case put the number of wounds at 15.<\/p>\n<p>Police documents say she was likely chased over a barbed-wire fence. Evidence and belongings ran along a path through the fence to where her body was found.<\/p>\n<p>DNA on a shoe at the scene belonging to Heike matched Teasley in a criminal database, local ABC News affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc15.com\/news\/local-news\/new-report-details-lauren-heike-murder-investigation-alleges-suspect-had-relationship-with-officer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KNXV-TV reported<\/a> in a story on the nearly 400-page report. Cellphone location data also tied him to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Teasley was already on probation for a 2021 conviction of armed robbery and other related offenses. Officers arrested him days after the killing, before a planned trip to a family funeral out of state, after his probation officer told them plane tickets had been bought.<\/p>\n<p>The report says police found no communication between Heike and Teasley before her death. Investigators told ABC15 they believed the attack was random. A boyfriend, Carlos Anderson, was interviewed early, agreed to a polygraph, and was ruled out after his employer confirmed he was at work.<\/p>\n<p>What the file does contain is Teasley\u2019s own writing on sex and identity. One entry quoted by ABC15 reads, \u201cI have been battling with my gender identity and sexuality. I am Christian, so this isn\u2019t allowed. I want to live a life of serving God, but how can I with these and other sins in the way. I know I am forgiven for my sins. But it\u2019s still a lot of pressure and it\u2019s hard to maintain a good Christian mindset 24\/7.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police noted another screenshot that read, \u201cwhen I see a beautiful woman and I\u2019m a man.\u201d Investigators treated that line as a possible sign of depression, ABC15 reported.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Teasley said he knew Heike from the news. Shown her image, he said, \u201cThat\u2019s what I would want to look like,\u201d according to the report. Officers also found photos from her social media on his phone, accessed days after the killing, and images of Teasley in an outfit they described as similar to what she was wearing. Those images appeared to have been accessed or modified the day he was arrested.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours after her death, a computer in his home was used to visit news sites and a WikiHow page on avoiding being \u201cjumped,\u201d the report said. Shown surveillance of the person police had released as the suspect, he said, \u201cThat\u2019s me. I think is it? I don\u2019t know.\u201d Asked if he planned the murder, he answered, \u201cI\u2019m telling you, if I was gonna do something like that, it definitely wouldn\u2019t be premeditated.\u201d Officers noted scratches on him.<\/p>\n<p>The same report describes a large volume of messages between Teasley and a Phoenix patrol officer, continuing until the day of the arrest. An extraction of the officer\u2019s phone showed searches the next day for \u201cLauren Heike,\u201d \u201cZion,\u201d and \u201cTeasley.\u201d The officer told investigators he stopped texting because of the arrest, talked about the case with squad mates, and did not tell a supervisor about the relationship. Phoenix police later told ABC15 the officer was investigated and suspended for not disclosing it.<\/p>\n<p>Heike\u2019s parents were in court when the defense asked to push the trial from October 2025 to January 2027. The judge granted the delay. Teasley\u2019s new attorney referred to the client as \u201cher\u201d while raising a health concern. Teasley had pleaded not guilty and faced two other felony cases. Attorneys declined to speak with KNXV-TV after the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 2, 2026, Teasley pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/06\/us-news\/trans-killer-blames-transition-for-stabbing-hiker-15-times-on-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the New York Post reported<\/a>. The agreement took the death penalty off the table. Sentencing will take place on December 2026.
