The woman, identified as Jane Doe, said she was too intoxicated to consent to sexual activity and took ketamine under pressure, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/crime\/2026\/10\/06\/cornell-rape-case-botched\/92102631007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit names seven males who belonged to the fraternity at the time, as well as the fraternity, the university, and others. Cornell investigated the incident at the time. The men involved have all denied allegations against them.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I never thought that there was a paucity of lawyers in New York, but it seems that they are rounding up the usual suspects in politicized litigation. Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James in investigating the case. Trump called that an act of insubordination, saying she had \u201cbetrayed the Department of Justice,\u201d and fired her.<\/p>\n<p>But on Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/statements.cornell.edu\/2026\/20261006-special-committee.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cornell said<\/a> she had been hired \u201cto lead a comprehensive independent review of how the University prevents and responds to sexual harassment, sexual assault and related misconduct on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the release announcing that Yates would be investigating said the scope was wide-ranging, it noted that \u201cYates and her team will conduct a detailed review of the University\u2019s response to the allegations involving Jane Doe and members of the Chi Phi fraternity in October 2024, including whether Cornell followed its policies and procedures in responding to the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">You\u2019ve got to be kidding me. Can\u2019t Cornell keep this apolitical?<\/p>\n<p>Can\u2019t they find a hardworking prosecutor who has not previously indulged in self-righteous grandstanding and troubling bureaucratic activism?<\/p>\n<p>This incident doesn\u2019t need a partisan crusader.
