Non-MAGA Republicans, however, are not nearly as likely to fill the polls this November.<\/p>\n<p>This enthusiasm gap forces the party to rely on its most passionate faction.<\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted by phone and online Sept. 11-14 among 1,211 registered voters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JpAHRcM7bc8&#038;t=186s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN\u2019s Chief Data Analyst<\/a> broke the numbers down on Sept. 27. \u201cSeventy-one percent of Democrats say they are certain in fact to vote in 2026,\u201d said Harry Enten. \u201cAnd look at this. MAGA Republicans \u2014 the same. It\u2019s sympatico.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Less than 1% of GOP midterm ads mention Trump: What's really going on\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JpAHRcM7bc8?start=186&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>He continued, \u201cMAGA Republicans are not just saying that they are still supporting Trump \u2026 [T]hey\u2019re also saying they are going to turn out in very high numbers, at least comparable to Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, only 57 percent of Republicans that wouldn\u2019t consider themselves \u201cMAGA\u201d said that they are certain to turn out Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean for the midterms?<\/p>\n<p>Two things: First, Republican victories nationwide will be quite difficult. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.net\/documents\/econtoplines_Cv0m59u.pdf#page=14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouGov<\/a>, 51% of Republicans don\u2019t label themselves \u201cMAGA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If half the Republican base turns out at a lower rate than Democrats overall, a blue wave becomes a very real possibility.\u00a0The GOP could very easily lose the House; they could even lose the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the non-MAGA Republicans who <em>are<\/em> fired up to vote will likely be voting for non-MAGA Republicans. We already know that MAGA voters will be swarming the polls, but a moderate, non-MAGA candidate will likely attract the support of the reluctant 57 percent.<\/p>\n<p>That coalition between MAGA and non-MAGA has the ability to carry the non-MAGA candidates across the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>MAGA candidates, however, turn off the non-MAGA voters and will make their victory much less certain.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Republicans maintain their majority in Congress, the Republicans filling those seats will likely be less loyal to the president and less responsive to the MAGA base.<\/p>\n<p>But this shift away from MAGA doesn\u2019t just affect the midterms \u2014 it reshapes the GOP\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2016, for better or for worse, President Donald Trump has been the figurehead of MAGA, the Republican Party, and American conservatism. He sets the agenda, he defines the rhetoric, and he leads in the battle against the left.<\/p>\n<p>All of that is about to change.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en-us\/republicans-rating-trump-cost-living-declines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters\/Ipsos poll<\/a> found that Republicans\u2019 approval of the president has dropped from 86 percent in January 2026 to 73 percent in the September survey. He lost 24 points on economic issues and 26 points on the cost of living.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the primary losses of Rep. Randy Feenstra, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Mike Lindell, among many other Trump-backed candidates reveal that his influence on the Republican base is slipping.<\/p>\n<p>Like it or not, the Republican Party is pivoting away from Trump. None of his potential successors command the same popular appeal that propelled him to the White House 10 years ago. From all appearances, no one person will be calling the shots.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the future of the party won\u2019t be decided in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The direction of the party \u2014 and the country \u2014 is in <em>your<\/em> hands.
