Five villages and three settlements were regained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation Vivaldi\u201d began in May and ended in late September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn historic moment,\u201d the Third Army Corps of Ukraine\u2019s Armed Forces said via  on Thursday. \u201cThe Third Army Corps has begun a new stage of the war with the landing of ground robots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the first in the world to use this tactic \u2014 dropping ground robots,\u201d Gen. Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the Third Army Corps, said.<\/p>\n<p>More than 15,700 missions were completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe enemy expects the threat from the sky, not the ground,\u201d Biletskyi said. \u201cWhere the enemy least expected it, dead and wounded Russian soldiers appeared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis drone, it has no fear, and unlike men, we are not afraid to lose it,\u201d the commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the Third Army Corps, who goes by the name of Darwin, said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2026\/09\/26\/ukraine-secret-robot-offensive-russians-operation-vivaldi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Telegraph<\/a>. \u201cIt makes the war safer for our soldiers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unmanned ground vehicles are armed with heavy machine guns or packed with explosives.<\/p>\n<p>The UGVs were flown by carrier drones at least 10 miles behind Russian lines in operations that were complex in and of themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Electronic warfare jammed Russian drones to blind Russian watchers.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian drones and artillery then kept Russian soldiers busy while the carrier drones flew past them at night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most difficult part is to reach the point where you should lift the drone,\u201d Darwin said. \u201cWe use radio electronic warfare to blind their drones, and they cannot see what we are doing any second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An intercepted exchange showed one Russian officer rejecting the idea that Ukraine could conduct such an operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe distance was such that the commander did not believe it could have been our little machine,\u201d Mykola Zinkevych, another commander in the unit, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said: \u2018I\u2019d sooner believe that our own guys drove up and hit you than that it was the khokhols,\u2019\u201d the Russian said, using a slur for Ukrainians.<\/p>\n<p>Biletskyi noted Ukraine has advanced past other nations technologically, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/behind-killer-robots-ukraines-new-warfare-revolution-2026-09-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe West slept through the (drone) revolution in many ways,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the West really wants to not just keep up with the times, but to get slightly ahead, it needs to think about the next revolution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy commander \u201cBar,\u201d a 23-year-old former bartender, said drones preserve Ukrainian lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t need food, they don\u2019t need water, they don\u2019t need logs delivered to build shelters,\u201d he said. \u201cBasically, we don\u2019t need to feel for them.
