What does the First Amendment mean to you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cWell, what does it mean to me? What it means to me is not the issue. But what the law says, what the free press can do is they are free to report whatever they want. OK? Of course, they can. But when it comes to the White House, it is the People\u2019s House. It is a privilege and not a right to be there,\u201d Blanche replied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cAnd what every American should expect is that when they are told something on any network or when they read something on the paper, that it even has a whiff of impartiality, that it even has a whiff of accuracy about what\u2019s actually happening, and if that\u2019s not happening, then there\u2019s nothing\u2014 it is absolutely the president\u2019s duty to make sure that the American people are hearing accurate news,\u201d Blanche continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cIt doesn\u2018t have to be good for the president,\u201d Blanche added. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to be everything\u2019s positive about what\u2019s happening in the administration. It has to be very accurate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cBut you heard what the president <a class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=q0dpGYLqNJ0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>: \u2018They want to try and diminish the Republicans and a Republican administration,\u2019\u201d Raddatz interjected, \u201cThat\u2019s the president saying he\u2018s not talking about impartiality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cOK. You just picked out seven words the president said,\u201d Blanche replied. \u201cThe president talks about his concerns with a lot of these mainstream media outlets. There\u2019s hours and hours and hours of quotes and statements about that. So for you to pick out seven words and say, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s what the president means,\u2019 that\u2019s extraordinarily disingenuous. OK? Everybody knows exactly what the president\u2019s concern is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">Raddatz responded, \u201cI think we could give other examples,\u201d before asking Blanche, \u201cWhat will be the criteria to get on the White House grounds, in your view, or Air Force One, the Oval Office?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cThat is most certainly not my decision. So I\u2019m not going to even begin to try to justify that question with an answer. But what I can tell you is what the president has said and what we have argued in court remains true,\u201d Blanched replied. \u201cWhat we expect\u2014 and it is for the protection of our country, so that when foreign leaders, when foreign governments, when citizens that are around the world hear what\u2019s happening in the administration, that it happens to be accurate..\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cIt doesn\u2018t have to be positive,\u201d Blanche reiterated. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to be something that just makes Republicans look good. But it has to be fair and balanced, and that\u2019s what the president expects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, a 2017 Trump appointee to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, <a class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__link\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/US\/judge-orders-white-house-restore-press-passes-cnn\/story?id=136709442\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordered<\/a> a 14-day pause on the ban Thursday after the three outlets <a class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__link\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.296754\/gov.uscourts.dcd.296754.18.1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sued<\/a> the administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cOK, and the judge found that not to be true with the national security,\u201d Raddatz argued before saying she\u2019d like to change the topic to artificial intelligence \u201cand also note as well that you let the Chinese press into the White House, and President Xi on Marine One.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cWhen you say \u2018you let,\u2019 the White House\u2014 I didn\u2019t let\u2014 the president\u2014 I did not let the Chinese journalists in,\u201d Blanche interjected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cThe White House,\u201d Raddatz replied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"LexicalEditorTheme__paragraph\">\u201cOK. All right. You got the last word. I hope we feel better now,\u201d Blanche said. \u201cThe whole point is\u2014 I mean, you know, it\u2019s not\u2014 this isn\u2019t about whether the Chinese journalists got into the White House for the day when their president was here visiting. This is about a much bigger issue than that.
