You read that correctly: he got fired for comments he made shortly after going through puberty.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/02\/sports\/trail-blazers-fire-broadcaster-after-past-racists-post-emerge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>, the beleaguered broadcaster is now 29, which would have made him roughly 15 years old at the time of the posts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not racist at all.. But not gonna lie.. Asian people piss me off! Hahaha #Honest,\u201d Bell tweeted on Dec. 9, 2012, per KGW.<\/p>\n<p>The teenage boy also used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hunter-biden-targets-donald-trumps-grandchildren-vulgar-rant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indecent language<\/a> toward girls. Imagine that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGotta give a shoutout to all the big girls out there and those closet w***res,\u201d he wrote on Nov. 30, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got a sl*t alert on aisle 10,\u201d he wrote on Feb. 13, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>You get the idea.<\/p>\n<p>By any measure, that language qualifies as regrettable. Nearly 14 years later, Bell undoubtedly takes no pride in having used it.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, assuming that nature worked as intended, perhaps a strong, older male intervened and taught Bell that real men don\u2019t talk like that.<\/p>\n<p>But \u2014 it cannot be emphasized enough \u2014 he was 15 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Call it whatever you want: wokeness, cancel culture, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/james-carville-melts-nyc-voters-nominate-marxists-wants-dems-break-radical-left\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marxist<\/a> indoctrination. No matter the label, this grotesque phenomenon of intolerance in the name of tolerance has made people unable or unwilling to think.<\/p>\n<p>Take the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nba-star-forward-defies-left-blasts-mamdani-poser-without-authority-talent-track-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trail Blazers<\/a> organization, for instance. After the KGW report on Bell\u2019s teenage tweets, the team immediately fired the young man, and then put out a typical boilerplate statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Portland Trail Blazers have zero tolerance for racist, sexist, or harmful comments. Social media posts made by our recently announced play-by-play broadcaster are in clear violation of team and league policies, as well as our values and expectations. Therefore, we will not be moving forward with this broadcaster,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe play-by-play role carries a long legacy of excellence, on the broadcast and in character, and we hold that standard without exception,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cWe did not meet our own bar in this process, and for that we apologize to Blazers fans and to Rip City. We believe strongly that everyone who is a part of Rip City should feel welcome and safe and we will make sure that our new broadcaster reflects these values. We will do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/04Mr0bviK3\">pic.twitter.com\/04Mr0bviK3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Portland Trail Blazers (@trailblazers) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/trailblazers\/status\/2105858217372951007?\">October 2, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the coward who wrote that statement would never volunteer his or her own stupid 15-year-old self for scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, KGW admitted that all of those inappropriate comments stemmed from Bell\u2019s teenage years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKGW\u2019s review did not locate any offensive tweets from Bell after he became an adult,\u201d the outlet wrote. \u201cIn fact, by the latter half of 2015, Bell\u2019s public tweets were almost entirely about sports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This appalling story produces many unsettling questions and reflections. Here, however, we will confine ourselves to two.<\/p>\n<p>First, why did KGB \u2014 er, KGW \u2014 review Bell\u2019s tweets in the first place? Or, more specifically, why did the outlet review comments the young broadcaster made as a 15-year-old?<\/p>\n<p>Nothing Bell could have written during his teenage years \u2014 no matter how \u201cracist, sexist, or harmful\u201d \u2014 poses even a fraction of the threat to communal peace and harmony that KGW\u2019s \u201cinvestigation\u201d did.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, imagine the character of the person who goes looking for offensive tweets written by teenagers, and then reports on their content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tweets were from 2012 and 2013 and were first spotted by KGW reporter Devon Haskins,\u201d the outlet wrote. \u201cKGW was in the process of reporting a story on the tweets Thursday afternoon and reached out to the Blazers for comment. The team replied several hours later saying they had fired Bell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shall we investigate the conduct of 15-year-old Devon Haskins? What about his editors at KGW? And what about the spineless executives in the Trail Blazers\u2019 organization?<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of behavior Mao encouraged during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bill-maher-compares-woke-mob-enforcers-maos-cultural-revolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cultural Revolution<\/a> of the 1960s. It produced violent mobs of young people who aggressively enforced Communist Party orthodoxy.
