Jang sought a domestic-violence restraining order against McKinsey in October 2025. McKinsey sought one against Jang in December and filed for divorce the same month. Custody disputes continued into this year.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/bayarea\/article\/dublin-inlaws-arrested-shooting-22452692.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKinsey was charged<\/a> in October 2025 with two misdemeanors: child endangerment and injury to a child. Police on Monday would not discuss those charges or the divorce file in connection with the homicide. They said the circumstances of the shooting remained under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Jang alleged in later custody papers that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/28\/us-news\/nyt-exec-killed-by-in-laws-threatened-wifes-life-court-docs-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKinsey had threatened<\/a> to kill her and her parents. She alleged her mother-in-law used anti-LGBT slurs toward her and one of the children. Prosecutors said the shooting showed blatant disregard for public safety in a parking lot where children were present. The investigation remains open.<\/p>\n<p>What many national reports have chosen not to dwell on is the full sequence. Two women married, and one later presented herself as a man. The marriage dissolved into mutual accusations of violence, neglect, and death threats.<\/p>\n<p>Then the elderly parents of one spouse were accused of executing the other spouse in a suburban parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Countless news reports on the incident referred to McKinsey as a man.
