The couple, married as 1992 and parents to three children, had previously faced public scrutiny over allegations that Bryon crossdressed and interacted with fetish models, which Noem described as devastating. The divorce paperwork was filed in Hamlin County, South Dakota, in September 2023.noem, who also served as governor from 2019 to 2025, faced criticism over her immigration policies and a costly ad campaign featuring her with law enforcement and Trump. She testified that Trump was aware of a controversial advertisement promoting her and her alignment with his views, but Trump publicly denied this. The Washington Examiner has sought comment from Noem regarding the divorce.

Former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem filed for divorce from her husband Bryon Noem after 34 years of marriage.

The divorce was filed due to “irreconcilable differences,” according to documents obtained by Dakota News Now.

Stay informed.Stay ahead.

Join Washington Examiner for unlimited access to the news, analysis, and commentary that matter most.

                See Options ›

Already a member?
