Despite this, media outlets and certain politicians continue to push the idea that anti-ICE enforcement is unpopular and that appeasing pro-illegal immigration sentiments is politically advantageous, leading to a perceived weakness within the Republican Party. The author asserts that Republican reluctance to stand firm on immigration issues may cause further electoral losses, and criticizes the tendency to blame the electorate rather than address the internal political shortcomings.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>New messaging operation: We just have to stop deporting people, and then Americans will love the Republican Party again.<\/p>\n<p>If you believe the legacy media, which you should never do, Americans are very angry that their warm and wonderful \u201cundocumented\u201d neighbors are being cruelly thrown out of the country. Republicans are about to lose their majorities in the House and Senate because everyone hates ICE for being so mean and aggressive. <\/p>\n<p>One of the implied messages that necessarily underlie this framing is that Americans just <em>adore<\/em> the heroism of the stunning and brave anti-ICE riots. Predictably, a bunch of weak Republicans have embraced the claim, pivoting to an anti-ICE, pro-illegals message.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A Message to President Trump on Immigration | Mar\u00eda Elvira Salazar\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pu6vDq23W1E?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>To see how the argument is being made, take a look at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/09\/27\/ice-crackdown-immigration-republicans-midterms-01093912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sept. 27 story<\/a> in Politico: \u201cICE operations are making it hard for vulnerable Republicans fighting for their political survival.\u201d The story frames deportation as a deeply unpopular measure. The political environment has calmed since the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, but \u201cICE\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >recent record-high arrest rate<\/a> is still landing hard in some communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then, big finish, Politico drops a quote from professional cuckold John Cornyn, who warns against going too far: \u201cThere\u2019s already been some blowback associated with what people feel is a little bit of a heavy hand when it comes to immigration enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capitulate, and then you can win again. This is RINO 101, and it\u2019s everything that\u2019s wrong with the Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p>The place where the claims about 2026 fall apart is 2024. After four years with a wide-open border, voters rejected uncontrolled mass migration and human trafficking, handing over the keys to Republicans. On Nov. 6, 2024, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/4hfM3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained the outcome<\/a> this way:<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>\n<div>\n<p>         <span>Image Credit<\/span>Screenshot       <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Every<\/em> establishment newsletter made the same argument. The Atlantic, a paste-eating gaggle of slogan-chanters who mindlessly recite conventional wisdom in exchange for a paycheck, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2024\/12\/democrats-latino-vote-immigration\/680945\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warned<\/a> that Democrats had gotten immigration disastrously wrong. Just two years ago, the supposedly mainstream argument was that voters were incandescent with rage over the flood of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-biden-is-destroying-the-country-and-putting-americans-in-danger\/\" title=\"President Trump: Biden is destroying the ... and putting Americans in danger\">illegal immigrants pouring<\/a> into the country.<\/p>\n<p>So American voters hated seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hundreds-of-sheriffs-call-on-biden-to-finish-trumps-border-wall-stop-gangs-guns-dangerous-drugs-entering-u-s\/\" title=\"Hundreds Of Sheriffs Call On Biden To Finish Trump\u2019s Border Wall, Stop \u2018Gangs, Guns, Dangerous Drugs\u2019 Entering U.S.\">mass illegal immigration<\/a>, voted against it, then reacted with horror when a new administration began working to reverse the thing that everybody hated and voted against. Everyone wanted cheeseburgers, so they got cheeseburgers, which made them furious because they hate cheeseburgers. Popular things are deeply unpopular. The logic doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n<p>In a sign that the media still does these information operations because they\u2019re still effective, polls suggest that a good number of Americans are either buying it or parroting it. A <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/712289\/americans-support-immigration-down-strong.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">July poll<\/a> from Gallup found \u201cmajority-level opposition to deportation,\u201d and a widespread view that cheap foreign labor is good for the economy. (Please, sir, may I have more MS-13?) <\/p>\n<p>This kind of manipulated outcome is the result of media hysteria and Republican weakness, as an electorate that turned hard against illegal immigration suddenly discovers two years later that they hate what they just voted for. Republicans have to <em>make<\/em> an argument to get people to buy the argument. Instead we get John Cornyn and Mar\u00eda Elvira Salazar.<\/p>\n<p>If Republicans face serious losses in November, we\u2019re going to play the \u201cblame my pet cause\u201d game in the aftermath. This will be the fake takeaway: See, the voters <em>want<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/douglas-murray-migrant-loving-lefties-live-in-a-dreamerworld\/\" title=\"Douglas Murray: Migrant-Loving Lefties Live in a Dreamerworld\">unlimited illegal immigration<\/a> without deportation. Giving up the fight and choosing weakness will validate an argument that the country hated in 2024, turning a winning issue into a losing issue because Republicans flinch before the punch lands.
