In an interview on \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d he described how he believed his infant son Callan might survive after the others where killed. Despite hopes, Callan also succumbed after four days in the hospital. Clancy recounted holding him in his arms as he died and expressed gratitude for the limited time they shared. He addressed false online accusations suggesting he was unkind or responsible, emphasizing the harm such misinformation causes, especially to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-second-place-finisher-protests-by-throwing-up-arms-in-x\/\" title=\"U.S. Second Place Finisher Protests By Throwing Up Arms In \u2018X\u2019\">mental health awareness<\/a>. Just give me one kid.\u2019 And I would raise him as best I could, I would give him the best life I possibly could, [and] I\u2019d tell him about his brother and sister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, as Clancy spent time with Callan, it soon became abundantly clear that his third child was also destined for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/no-words-6th-grader-dies-school-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">far too early, tragic death<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Patrick Clancy talks about the final days with his 8-month-old son, Callan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,\u201d he tells 60 Minutes. \u201cAnd remember just thinking, \u2018Just gimme one. Just gimme one kid,\u2019 and I would raise him as best I could, and I would\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5HMfnujj1d\">pic.twitter.com\/5HMfnujj1d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 60 Minutes (@60Minutes) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/60Minutes\/status\/2101823640794702120?\">September 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got to the hospital, I saw the doctor, I saw the look on her face, and I knew that it wasn\u2019t going to be a good prognosis,\u201d Clancy explained.<\/p>\n<p>The only good news was that Callan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/didnt-die-nothing-father-dies-trying-save-boys-fall-off-cliff-hike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">didn\u2019t die right away<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCallan\u2019s heart kept beating for four days,\u201d Clancy revealed. \u201cI\u2019m so grateful for those four days that I had with him, and I\u2019m so grateful he hung on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked by Douthat\u00a0whether he\u2019d said anything pertinent to Callan during those four days, Clancy replied, \u201cI said I\u2019m so sorry, and I got to hold him, I got to lay down next to him, and he died in my arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the interview, Clancy responded to accusations from conspiracy theorists that he\u2019d been a cold, unkind husband and the true culprit behind his three children\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mother-1954-drowned-3-children-system-took-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">horrific deaths<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Patrick Clancy says the accusations about him online are \u201cdeeply harmful to the legacy of my children.
