Many physicians and parents will benefit from this in the future,\u201d Verhagen said in comments to Dutch outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtl.nl\/nieuws\/binnenland\/artikel\/5649731\/euthanasie-kinderen-12-commissie-artsen-zorgvuldig\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RTL Nieuws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou aren\u2019t trained for it, and there is a huge threshold to cross. Yet, sometimes you reach the point where you do cross that threshold,\u201d he described.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you see that the suffering is so severe and realize there is no other reasonable way to end it \u2014 other than allowing the child to die \u2014 then, as a doctor, you are prepared to take that step. But it remains a difficult decision: difficult medically, but also emotionally. You need support from colleagues, as well as from a committee that \u2014 one hopes \u2014 will understand why you did what you did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>American Christians and conservatives reacted poorly to the decision, noting that the decision to euthanize a toddler has harrowing implications for the trajectory of the broader West.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wonder if the toddler agrees,\u201d one social media user <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/k_mahlburg\/status\/2100230726214168952\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid they hire Lindsay Clancy,\u201d another <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MbKryts\/status\/2099969419560837517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a>. \u201cI hear she has experience in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIm afraid of what God is going to do us.
