It criticizes the party’s inability to pass notable legislation such as election security bills or codify former President Trump’s agenda, with some members accused of prioritizing personal gain and insider trading. The article also points out instances of bipartisan cooperation on gun control following the 2022 Uvalde school shooting, despite general GOP resistance.

Further, the piece criticizes Republican leaders like John Thune, James Lankford, Mitch McConnell, and especially Senate majority leader John Cornyn for perceived weakness, pandering, and abandoning conservative principles. It underscores Cornyn’s recent controversies, including his harsh rhetoric against a GOP candidate and his dismissive comments about American heritage.

Additionally, it highlights internal party conflicts, exemplified by the ousting of Cornyn’s primary opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, suggesting the presence of long-term “wolves masquerading” as conservatives within the party. The article discusses the controversies surrounding a GOP nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner, Bo French, who faced criticism after posting about immigration and demographic changes at texas Longhorns games-a post condemned by Cornyn. the piece urges Republican voters to scrutinize future candidate nominations and question the loyalty and ideology of current party representatives, emphasizing the importance of genuine conservative leadership and the need for electoral reform.

Republicans have had a majority in the U.S. Senate during the 18 months since taking back the chamber in 2024, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s re-election.

Before that, the GOP held a majority from 2015 to 2021.
