Though, hoskins later reversed his position and eliminated the contempt citation. The legal dispute centered around whether to use the 2025 congressional map, which would favor Republicans with a 7-1 advantage, or the existing 2022 map, used in previous elections with a 6-2 GOP advantage. The Supreme Court determined the 2025 map would face a referendum in november and thus should not be used for the upcoming election, despite a federal court ordering its use. This has resulted in conflicting rulings between state and federal courts regarding which map to implement.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<article class=\"fn-body\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/missouri\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"1099\">Missouri<\/a> Supreme Court found Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins in contempt on Thursday for telling officials to use a new congressional map for the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2026-election\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"11675\">November election<\/a>, but that Hoskins had \u201cpurged\u201d himself of the contempt by reversing course later in the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contempt finding stemmed from a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4718256\/how-missouri-redistricting-turned-into-legal-mess\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4718256\/how-missouri-redistricting-turned-into-legal-mess\/\">weeklong legal war<\/a> over whether state officials should use a congressional map passed in 2025, which would likely give Republicans a 7-1 advantage over Democrats, or the congressional map passed in 2022 and used in the 2022 and 2024 elections, which has given the GOP a 6-2 advantage over Democrats. The Missouri Supreme Court found last week that the 2025 map would face a referendum in November, and that the 2022 map would therefore be used for the upcoming election, despite the fact that the 2025 map was used for the August primary election.
