NWSL guidelines do prohibit signs, symbols, words or imagery used for political campaigning or advocacy. The problem isn\u2019t the rule\u2014it\u2019s the blatant double standard in how it\u2019s applied.<\/p>\n<p>For example, \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwslsoccer.com\/pride\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBT Pride<\/a>\u201d advocacy are largely encouraged by this same organization. This leaves the soccer fan with no objective understanding of the guidelines. The line between political apparel and political advocacy is largely blurred and leaves practically all enforcement to staff discretion.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, a Thorns spokesperson contacted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/outkick-sports\/fans-battle-portland-thorns-reason-ejection-xx-xy-apparel-dispute-lying\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OutKick<\/a> saying that the fans were removed \u201cfor distributing unapproved materials, a violation of the Fan Experience Guidelines at the stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amy Sousa, a member of the ejected group, has not remained silent. \u201cWe only d [printed materials] to our own group while seated facing each other. We only brought five,\u201d she said to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/outkick-sports\/fans-battle-portland-thorns-reason-ejection-xx-xy-apparel-dispute-lying\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OutKick<\/a>. \u201cIf we \u2018distributed\u2019 anything, they would have it on video.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the only videos of the incident record stadium staff speaking with Sousa, her explanation of the situation, and a false accusation of \u201ctransphobia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the story doesn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n<p>Following their removal from Providence Park, the group went to a supposed \u201cpro-women\u2019s sports\u201d bar\u2014The Sports Bra. While her actions may be intentional, Sousa is anything but right wing. Her <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KnownHeretic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X bio<\/a> describes her as a \u201cmodern day gender abolitionist,\u201d a decidedly far-left radical feminist idea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fgss.cornell.edu\/news\/what-gender-gender-abolition-presented-dr-perry-zurn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gender abolitionism<\/a> is the idea that we should dismantle all social norms, roles, and stereotypes associated with gender. The question then becomes: How do you dismantle sex-based social expectations, but keep <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >sex-based social institutions<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t. This is where Sousa\u2019s common sense collides with her feminism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/men-women-created-equal-differently-feminism-failed-due-denying-distinction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Modern egalitarian feminism<\/a> argues that biological differences should have no effect on public life. While certain feminists like Sousa have backed away from this idea, the cornerstone of their ideology removed the logical foundation required to defend sex-segregated spaces. If biological sex carries no social meaning, there remains no justification for sex-segregated public spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Feminism intended to undermine traditional family structures. It did. It intended to erase gender roles. It did. It intended to drive women into the workforce. It did. Feminism accomplished what it set out to do and now it is harming the very people it purports to protect.<\/p>\n<p>The same ideas that created radical feminism are now destroying women\u2019s sports from within.<\/p>\n<p>Should we still feel sorry for Sousa and her unjust ejection? Of course. Should we put pressure on businesses and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wnba-forced-issue-another-humiliating-response-mom-daughter-made-cover-pro-girl-shirts-opposing-trans-players-womens-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sports leagues<\/a> to ensure this never happens again? Absolutely.
