One that is in terms of war or effort continuing today, and may be even worse today,\u201d Giuliani continued. \u201cHaving lost friends there, and being very close to many of the families, it offends me that he\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mamdani\u2019s plan to join families of those who died during the attacks has been met with significant pushback. A petition\u00a0started by Giovanni Galante, whose wife was killed in the Sept. 11 attacks, has garnered more than <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/please-sign-to-support-honoring-the-memory-of-those-lost-on-september-11th-with-dignity?recruiter=1421960844&#038;recruited_by_id=0999a100-7bbb-11f1-8944-997c0a94f6b3&#038;utm_source=share_petition&#038;utm_campaign=petition_dashboard&#038;utm_medium=copylink&#038;share_id=kbk5YJfjfS\">100,000 signatures<\/a> since it was started in July.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The petition\u2019s organizers cited a series of concerns about Mamdani, including his past comments on U.S. foreign policy, his response to the phrase \u201cglobalize the intifada,\u201d appointments and political endorsements he has made for activist figures, and writings by his father on political violence, which they argue make him an inappropriate participant in the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giuliani, meanwhile, was more frank about his issues with Mamdani, saying the socialist is a \u201cclear supporter\u201d of radical Muslim ideologies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former New York Gov.
