The entire time Cruz spoke Friday afternoon, while he acknowledged Clancy\u2019s three young victims, her own children, the woman behind him aggressively shook her head no. When Cruz offered to take questions, the woman yelled out over him. \u201cYou only cared when the kids were dead,\u201d she said, sporting sunglasses and a bright pink scarf and purse. \u201cWhy don\u2019t you care about the mother?\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-471351728\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That such a woman is permitted to walk the streets unaccosted and maybe even have children of her own is an alarming reality. And she\u2019s not alone. They showed up at the courthouse in solidarity, dripping in pink. They\u2019re proud of it. And they maintain that Clancy is just as much a victim as the three children she strangled, if not even more so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>You only cared when the kids were dead.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine saying that aloud and believing it\u2019s a rational point. There\u2019s no reason a state prosecutor should be concerned about a private family until a crime is committed. That a woman thinks there is is her way of absolving Clancy of agency and responsibility. And she wants to do that because she believes that same notion should apply to herself. That should terrify everyone who knows that lady, especially anyone who has kids.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be sure, there are many bored women who simply view the Clancy case as entertainment, something for them to consume, ponder, and offer up their own theories based on their deep well of Netflix true-crime watching. They\u2019re no less suspect than the woman above. Three young children are dead. They were left face down on a basement floor after their mother choked the life out of them, one by one, with rubber exercise bands. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If that\u2019s how these people are getting their kicks, and are able to find it in themselves to confidently, publicly side with Clancy, they\u2019re not well. They shouldn\u2019t be left with children. I certainly wouldn\u2019t leave my child with them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Justice has yet to be served.
