This change occurs just before the September 8 GOP primary, where Sununu is favored to beat former ambassador Scott Brown, while Democratic candidate Rep. Chris Pappas is expected to advance to the general election against socialist Karishma Manzur. Polls show sununu increasing his lead over Brown and leading Pappas by 2 points in recent surveys,indicating a strengthening position in the race. Sununu, a former senator who served from 2003 to 2009, is considered a strong candidate capable of appealing to independents, with support from the National Republican senatorial Committee. Despite the Inside Elections rating shift, other sources like Cook Political Report and Sabato\u2019s Crystal Ball still categorize the race as \u201cleans Democrat\u201d due to New Hampshire\u2019s recent voting history.
