Judge Leonie Brinkema of the U.S. District court for the Eastern District of Virginia ruled that Google is not required to sell off AdX, which she previously found to be operated illegally as a monopoly when it was built and tied to its ad server. Instead, the court mandated that Google implement behavioral remedies for the platform. This decision marks a significant progress in the antitrust case, with both the Justice Department and Google expressing approval-each citing different reasons. The DOJ sees the ruling as a step toward restoring competition in online advertising markets, while google is pleased that it will not be forced to divest AdX, which is vital for helping small businesses reach customers<\/a>.
