The DEI Democrat campaigned for the office in 2018 on a platform of going after President Donald Trump. <\/p>\n<p>Now, a new bombshell email appears to show just how deep the corrupt attorney general\u2019s office is willing to go to get their man and his allies. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s exhibit A of why New Yorkers \u201cshould be embarrassed, disappointed, and disgusted by their chief law enforcement officer,\u201d one government watchdog attorney tells The Federalist.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Target Trump Himself\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>As the Albany Times Union <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/capitol\/article\/ny-prosecutor-claims-letitia-james-office-22409213.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first reported<\/a>, New York Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld on Friday morning blasted out an email to his 2,000 colleagues about how he has been pressured to get Trump and his allies.<\/p>\n<p>Wiesenfeld, assigned to the agency\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.ny.gov\/resources\/organizations\/investments-registration-regulation\/investor-protection-faqs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Investor Protection Bureau,<\/a> wrote in the email that his supervisor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pli.edu\/faculty\/shamiso-maswoswe-i1662372\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shamiso Maswoswe<\/a>, had told him to \u201cfind and pursue crimes committed by specific individuals and organizations affiliated with Donald Trump.\u201d He said he was to \u201ctarget Trump himself, Truth Social, Hewlett Packard (DOJ approved merger) \u2026 without having a credible reason for targeting this organizations and individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, who has worked in the AG\u2019s office for seven years, was placed on administrative leave, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/ny-prosecutor-claims-letita-james-230515249.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> the news outlet. His email was quickly deleted from the office\u2019s servers and disappeared from the employees\u2019 inboxes. Staff then received a follow-up email from one of James\u2019 executive assistants asserting that Wiesenfeld\u2019s damning email was an \u201cinternal\u201d matter and that agency employees were not \u201cin danger,\u201d individuals familiar with the message told the Albany newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a personnel matter, and the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave with full pay,\u201d a spokesperson for James told the publication. \u201cThe office of the attorney general is committed to upholding New York\u2019s laws and protecting the rights and freedoms of all New Yorkers, regardless of political beliefs. We strongly reject any assertion to the contrary.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018To Tell the Truth\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The whistleblower made sure he spoke his peace before he blew up his bridge with the notorious New York Attorney General\u2019s office. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best part of having f\u2013k you money is being able to tell the truth, without fear of consequences so here we go,\u201d Wiesenfeld began in his email, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/30\/opinion\/miranda-devine-ag-letitia-james-evil-eye-on-trump-and-blind-eye-to-ny-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> a readout provided to The New York Post.<\/p>\n<p>Wiesenfeld has a different take on just how committed to \u201cupholding New York\u2019s laws\u201d without political favor James\u2019 office really is. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you believe Trump is using (Department of Justice) attorneys to prosecute his enemies and further his political interests, you should find it equally troubling that Tish (James) is doing exactly the same thing,\u201d Wiesenfeld wrote. \u201cI ask that you not serve as Tish\u2019s personal attorneys by targeting her political enemies. Instead, I hope you choose to prosecute crimes and find the individuals accountable, rather than targeting individuals and then finding crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wiesenfeld is no mere disgruntled employee. The prosecutor has been assigned to the Investor Protection Bureau for several years. He most recently helped lead one of the office\u2019s most significant prosecutions, a <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.ny.gov\/press-release\/2026\/attorney-general-james-sues-coinbase-and-gemini-running-illegal-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> against Coinbase Financial Markets and Gemini Titan, accusing the digital asset players of illegally running gambling operations through prediction market platforms. <\/p>\n<p>The Albany Union reports that Wiesenfeld\u2019s mention of the Hewlett-Packard merger is in reference to the <a href=\"https:\/\/coag.gov\/2025\/intervene-in-alleged-corrupt-hpe-juniper-networks-merger-settlement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opposition<\/a> of James and several other Democrat attorneys general to HP\u2019s $14 billion acquisition of IT provider Juniper Networks. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Political Theater\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Shamiso Maswoswe, the prosecutor\u2019s boss, joined the AG\u2019s office in 2019. She\u2019s held a series of leadership roles in the Investor Protection Bureau. <\/p>\n<p>Perhaps she has an ax to grind. <\/p>\n<p>Before joining James\u2019 team, Maswoswe worked at the Trump Department of Justice. In a discrimination lawsuit filed in 2021, Maswoswe, a black woman of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/daily-labor-report\/breastfeeding-doj-lawyer-accuses-agency-of-sex-bias-retaliation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cZimbabwean descent,<\/a>\u201d alleged Justice officials wrongfully fired her for breastfeeding her child in the office and for taking the infant on work trips. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe also alleged the department retaliated against her for complaining that she was being discriminated against \u2014 treated differently than her male, and childless, colleagues \u2014 and because she was a breastfeeding mother,\u201d Bloomberg Law News reported in 2023. <\/p>\n<p>The DOJ ended up paying a nearly $800,000 settlement in the case, while not admitting any wrongdoing. <\/p>\n<p>James\u2019 office did not return The Federalist\u2019s requests for comment Monday. <\/p>\n<p>In his email, Wiesenfeld wrote that New York\u2019s politically-driven attorney general has used \u201csignificant public taxpayer dollars to target convenient public enemies\u201d as she shrugs off \u201crampant non-profit homeless shelter fraud, Medicaid fraud, and crimes in and around synagogues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTish is prioritizing political theater and getting re-elected in November over actually improving the quality of life of New Yorkers,\u201d the prosecutor wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/30\/opinion\/miranda-devine-ag-letitia-james-evil-eye-on-trump-and-blind-eye-to-ny-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> New York Post columnist Miranda Devine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe double standards are staggering. It\u2019s only surprising that more prosecutors haven\u2019t quit,\u201d Devine opined, noting James\u2019 myriad failures in dealing with Medicaid fraud, antisemitism, and government corruption under her fellow Democrats. <\/p>\n<p>James has been true to her word in one regard: she has spent a good deal of her time and power going after Trump, bringing a bogus fraud case against the president, his sons and his company in 2023. She secured a conviction from media whore and Trump-hating Judge Arthur Engoron, but a New York appellate court tossed the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >politically vindictive half-billion-dollar penalty<\/a> last year, ruling it was excessive. <\/p>\n<p>Kyle Brosnan, general counsel for the <a href=\"https:\/\/itsyourgov.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oversight Project,<\/a> said the whistleblower\u2019s allegations should come as a surprise to no one. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York Attorney General James ran for office on the promise that she would weaponize her office to unfairly target President Trump and his allies. It was obvious from the start that her actions against President Trump were politically motivated and illegitimate,\u201d he told The Federalist in a text Monday. \u201cThese bombshell revelations provide yet another reason why the people of New York should be embarrassed, disappointed, and disgusted by their chief law enforcement officer.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
