Political analyst hugo Gurdon noted that Trump is quite unpopular,with many voters upset over rising prices for groceries and gas,which are partly attributed to tariffs implemented by Trump that have increased costs.The survey data, collected weekly from 1,500 participants, highlights that economic concerns are influencing public opinion. Gurdon also pointed out that the highest inflation occurred under President Joe Biden, but trump\u2019s tariffs continue to contribute to financial pressure on consumers.Additionally, global tensions, particularly over Iran, have pushed energy prices higher, further adding to inflation. These economic issues are impacting the upcoming midterm elections, as Republican candidates grapple with President Trump\u2019s unpopularity, making election strategy more complex. The<em> Economist<\/em> then aggregates the data. Despite this, Trump\u2019s tariffs are still contributing to financial strains that are being paid by U.S. consumers, Gurdon said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAlso, of course, the Iran war has pushed prices higher because it has pushed the price of energy, specifically gasoline, higher, and that means that transportation of all goods is more expensive, and that\u2019s pushed prices higher, too,\u201d Gurdon said. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2026-election\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"11675\">midterm elections<\/a> have become \u201cunusual\u201d because of the president\u2019s decisions, Gurdon said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHis job approval is something that spills very much over to the midterms because Republicans are not sure how much they want to be associated with the president,\u201d Gurdon said. \u201cBut they know they have to get the MAGA Republicans out to vote for them, so they\u2019re in a quandary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"
