She discovered numerous troop operations based out of mosques across teh country, with specific awards created by the National Islamic Committee on Girl Scouting (NICGS) for the &#8220;Girl Scout of the Islamic Faith,&#8221; rather than by Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA). These awards include ribbons named &#8220;Bismillah,&#8221; &#8220;In the Name of Allah,&#8221; &#8220;Qurat ul A\u2019in,&#8221; and &#8220;Muslimeen,&#8221; highlighting Islamic teachings and practices, such as the Hajj pilgrimage. Some patches and activities also focus on Islamic rituals, like fasting during Ramadan, with some activities deemed as Muslim evangelism. Girl Scout troops affiliated with mosques organize events like Iftar and mosque visits, emphasizing Islamic culture. Several mosque-based troops exist nationwide, with outreach efforts dating back to at least 2007, particularly in Muslim communities. This advancement occurs amid some Christian parents withdrawing thier children from Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts,seeking faith-based alternatives. Originally founded to promote outdoor skills and character virtues, scouting organizations have shifted away from this mission as cultural trends have changed. Muslim families, frequently enough relatively new to America, may view participating in Girl scouts as a way to promote their faith and culture under an accepting umbrella. The Girl Scouts denied religious affiliation, asserting they do not teach religion, and clarified that faith-based patches are created by autonomous organizations, not GSUSA. Winters found Girl Scout troops operated out of mosques from coast to coast, with specific awards <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nataliegwinters\/status\/2091908255521845724\">created<\/a> for a \u201cGirl Scout of the Islamic Faith.\u201d Winters notes that the awards were created by the National Islamic Committee on Girl Scouting (NICGS), rather than Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA), indicating the extent to which the Girl Scouts have allowed their brand to be Islamized.<\/p>\n<p>The NICGS has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nataliegwinters\/status\/2091908255521845724\">created<\/a> four award ribbons Girl Scouts can achieve that advertise a \u201cGirl Scout of the Islamic Faith.\u201d These awards are named \u201cBismillah,\u201d \u201cIn the Name of Allah,\u201d \u201cQurat ul A\u2019in,\u201d and \u201cMuslimeen.\u201d The NIGCS says the awards emphasize the \u201ctheory and practice of Islam.\u201d The NIGCS also offers a Hajj patch and \u201cHajj Passport\u201d for Girl Scouts who complete the required Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, a Girl Scout Bronze Award offers an \u201cAll about Islam\u201d patch, requiring scouts to complete the five pillars of Islam. Older girls can perform optional fasts without food or water.<\/p>\n<p>One Girl Scouts Patch is named \u201c Ramadan with a Friend.\u201d To earn the patch, younger girls can invite non-Muslim friends to the Iftar (\u201cthe breaking of the fast\u201d) and explain the significance of fasting for a month. Older girls can also take their friends to the mosque and have them observe Muslim prayers. Effectively, the patch is awarded for Muslim evangelism.<\/p>\n<p>One Girl Scout troop is based out of the SALAM mosque in Sacramento, and the mosque has featured an event for the \u201cbroader Girl Scout community\u201d that included a hijab photo booth, modesty lessons, and an \u201cinformative booth about Palestine.\u201d In the Washington, D.C. area, Girl Scout groups linked to mosques host a Ramadan Lock-In and instruct attendees to bring Muslim prayer garments.<\/p>\n<p>Winters also identified mosque-based Girl Scout troops in Naperville, Long Island, Virginia, Brooklyn, and San Diego. The Post Millennial <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/girl-scouts-of-america-offers-muslim-badges-to-be-earned-by-learning-pillars-of-islam-visiting-mosques\">added<\/a> that nearly a dozen \u201cpredominantly Muslim\u201d Girl Scout troops were formed in Minneapolis after deliberate outreach by GSUSA to Muslims in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>The Muslim-themed Girl Scouts programming is notable at a time when many Christian parents have pulled their children out of the Girl Scouts (and Boy Scouts) for explicitly Christian alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>The Scouting organizations were originally formed to help children develop outdoor skills, particularly as more and more families relocated to urban areas, as well as character virtues. For decades, there was plenty of d ground for Americans who disagreed about other things to cooperate together on these goals. But, as the culture shifted in an anti-Christian direction, the scouting organizations shifted, too. When the scouting organizations left their original moorings, Christians had to build other organizations to take their place.<\/p>\n<p>Muslims, however, come from a different perspective. Most Muslims in America come from families who have only been in this country for, say, one to three generations. Their culture never participated in the Americana that informed the original scouting organizations. For them, American culture is at least foreign, if not hostile. This may explain why Muslims are willing to participate in the Girl Scouts, even if it does not entirely align with Muslim values. And they are tickled if they can get some approval for their religious preferences under its umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>But the Girl Scouts\u2019 approval of Muslim practice seems to go far beyond any favor it ever bestowed on Christianity. Did the Girl Scouts ever offer a badge for Christian evangelism? It appears that wokeness has once again led an organization into religious favoritism for Islam in the name of \u201cdiversity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Girl Scouts <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/girl-scouts-of-america-offers-muslim-badges-to-be-earned-by-learning-pillars-of-islam-visiting-mosques\">responded<\/a>, calling the reporting \u201cmisinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere are the facts,\u201d they said. \u201cGirl Scouts is not a religious organization and does not teach religion. For more than a century, we\u2019ve welcomed girls of every faith and background. Our national My Promise, My Faith pin invites girls to connect the Girl Scout Law with their own faith. Any other faith-based patches are developed by independent faith organizations, not Girl Scouts of the USA. Girl Scouts is proudly for every girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the fact remains that the Girl Scouts approved the Muslim faith patches, thus allowing a very Islamic brand of scouting to advance under its auspices.
