The Commodity Futures Trading commission (CFTC) announced that Perez settled charges by reimbursing $107,539.02 in profits and paying a civil penalty of $65,000, with the fine reflecting a &#8220;substantial discount&#8221; due to his cooperation. Perez, who began working for Trump in 2016, was placed on administrative leave and then suspended after reports revealed he made over $100,000 betting on predictions about words president Trump would use in speeches.The CFTC found that Perez misused access to confidential speech information to trade successfully on prediction markets between December 2025 and February 2026, generating meaningful profits. This case is one of several insider trading incidents involving government personnel this year.
