The author depicts California Democrats as corrupt, inept, and self-serving, exemplified by Nithya Raman\u2019s superficial street improvements. the article portrays California\u2019s leadership as corrupt opportunists who prioritize appearances and power over meaningful action, often resorting to misinformation, and seeks to expose the superficiality and failure underlying their public narratives.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>You won\u2019t find the words \u201cNick Shirley\u201d in the new Democrat-passed California law that the Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio <a href=\"https:\/\/ad75.asmrc.org\/2026\/04\/13\/ca-democrats-advance-stop-nick-shirley-act-to-criminalize-investigative-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dubbed<\/a> the \u201cStop Nick Shirley Act,\u201d and the horrible spokescreatures for the state\u2019s reptilian governor are riding that fact pretty hard.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Carl DeMaio made up the \u201cStop Nick Shirley Act\u201d name and then sold it to MAGA as if it were real.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Shirley\u2019s name appears nowhere in AB 2624. It doesn\u2019t stop him or any other \u201ccitizen journalist\u201d from reporting or investigating.<\/p>\n<p>You got played. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/F5HsMVVs7u\">https:\/\/t.co\/F5HsMVVs7u<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Izzy Gardon (@iGardon) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iGardon\/status\/2091657781178974598?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 23, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>But they\u2019re lying by omission and misdirection, an act they perform with the regularity of breathing. It\u2019s still more or less the Stop Nick Shirley Act, and it\u2019s designed to create a special class of privileged people with extra privacy rights: \u201cPrivacy for immigration support services providers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.digitaldemocracy.org\/bills\/ca_202520260ab2624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">read the thing<\/a>, which purportedly makes it illegal to \u201cknowingly publicly post or publicly display, disclose, or distribute on the internet the personal information or image of any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-dem-lawmakers-humiliate-themselves-literally-flee-as-nick-shirley-asks-about-their-law-to-protect-fraudsters\/\" title=\"Watch: Dem Lawmakers Humiliate Themselves, Literally Flee as Nick Shirley Asks About Their Law to Protect Fraudsters\">designated immigration support services provider<\/a>, employee, or volunteer, or other individuals residing at the same home address.\u201d So you can engage in independent journalism, and you can investigate anybody you want. You just can\u2019t ever mention their names.<\/p>\n<p>Trying to turn a ludicrous premise into something that a judge won\u2019t laugh out of court, the bill adds a bunch of language about intent: The person posting the name of an NGO grifter has to <em>intend<\/em> to be mean and hurtful, boo hoo. It\u2019s pathetic, it\u2019s a First Amendment nightmare, and (as we\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/15\/the-stop-nick-shirley-act-is-a-pathetic-joke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said before<\/a>) it\u2019s not going to work.<\/p>\n<p>But even if it\u2019s not going to work, it\u2019s going to work. An unenforceable law that you can get the judge to throw out of court when they charge you with it is still a punishment delivered in the form of a process. It\u2019s not a smart threat, it\u2019s not a terribly plausible threat, but it\u2019s a threat: Don\u2019t you dare to report on people who have a corrupt patron-client relationship with California Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>They do this kind of thing because, to put this as charitably as I can say it, they\u2019re the scum of the earth: slack-jawed, appetite-driven, consumed by their soulless, mindless, morally and intellectually empty grift. California Democrats can\u2019t <em>do<\/em> anything. If you gave them sliced bread and a toaster that you plugged in to give them a head start, it\u2019s still an open question if they could figure out how to make a real piece of toast. They\u2019re greedy, stupid, and worthless at best, and the Stop Nick Shirley Act was introduced by a legislator-thing that advertises its stupidity through the beady eyes on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/nation-world\/nation\/california-lawmaker-reveals-abortion-as-more-women-speak-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slack-jawed face<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Remember this sentence: The less they can actually <em>do<\/em>, the more noise they make.<\/p>\n<p>In January of this year, Gavin Newsom proudly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2025\/01\/06\/governor-newsom-marks-new-track-laying-phase-of-high-speed-rail-with-completion-of-key-construction-and-continued-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> that the state\u2019s ludicrous high-speed rail project had entered the \u201ctrack-laying phase,\u201d and then he swaggered around about the whole fake thing on a long media tour, with boastful social media posts.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Governor #Newsom Announces Start of #California #HighSpeedRail Track-Laying \u00a0#shorts #news\" width=\"422\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/G6ZuAoMHxSQ?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Eight months later, here\u2019s an August 26 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/us-news\/years-late-billions-over-budget-californias-high-speed-rail-hasnt-laid-a-track-bac525ee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> in the Wall Street Journal: \u201cYears Late, Billions Over Budget: California\u2019s High-Speed Rail Hasn\u2019t Laid a Track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So: Loud, confident announcement to cover a shameful reality. That\u2019s it. That\u2019s how California is governed.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why do they do this? <\/em>Why does Newsom <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/commentary\/2025\/06\/california-economy-limping-along\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">swagger<\/a> and strut and preen and gloat and toss his greasy hair like a lion\u2019s mane over a crushingly obvious lie?<\/p>\n<p>He does it because he is not a good person, and California Democrats are demonstrably, consistently, reliably not good people. They\u2019re vampires, but really dumb vampires.<\/p>\n<p>Nithya Raman is a simply awful member of the Los Angeles City Council, a DSA ghoul running for mayor who wants to drag the city leftward. Because the response to that request was led by a bold team of crusaders who fiercely \u201cproblem-solve\u201d and \u201cpush for solutions,\u201d Nithya\u2019s stable of socialist heavy hitters was able to get some yellow stripes painted on a street in somewhat less than a full calendar year, after which they all strutted around and congratulated each other for being brilliant and amazing.<\/p>\n<p>But <em>look at the street<\/em>, the thing that local government officials are supposed to be taking care of as stewards. They had yellow stripes painted over deeply cracked and faded asphalt, doing no maintenance at all but then covering ruined things with painted symbols.<\/p>\n<p>There is. <em>Nothing<\/em> serious. Nothing! That these people. <em>Know how to do<\/em>. There is nothing serious that they will ever do or can ever do. They suck blood, they seek power for the sake of power, and they congratulate themselves. Their lives have no other meaning or value, and never will.<\/p>\n<p>This is why their instinct is to criminalize disagreement and criticism, which is exactly what they just tried to do. They did it poorly, because they do everything poorly, except for their two fundamental lifelong tasks of scheming for power and self-interest.<\/p>\n<p>After Gavin Newsom and the other members of this grifter class comes the void. They are the abyss.
