The appeals court\u2019s ruling will not affect the state\u2019s 2026 congressional map, as the Peach State\u2019s primaries were held in May, but it could affect the map used in the 2028 elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The appeals court based its Tuesday ruling on the Supreme Court\u2019s 6-3 decision in <em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em>, in which the court <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/4410470\/supreme-court-strikes-down-race-based-redistricting-map-in-louisiana\/\">struck down race-based redistricting<\/a> in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/louisiana\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"529\">Louisiana<\/a> and began a snowball effect of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/4548431\/supreme-court-louisiana-redistricting-ruling-democrats-south\/\">redistricting moves<\/a> in many southern states.
