JD Vance revealed that his friend Jamil Jivani, a Canadian MP and close friend from Yale, has played a backchannel role in trade negotiations with Canada, leveraging their long-standing friendship-including their shared interest in fantasy football. The article suggests that informal diplomacy and personal ties continue to influence U.S.-Canada relations, despite formal talks breaking down over the weekend.

Additionally, the piece covers political primaries in south Carolina, where Trump-backed candidate Darline Graham Nordone secured the nomination amid various factors like campaign spending and outsider status. The upcoming midterms are also discussed with a focus on making politics and public initiatives more accessible, exemplified by proposals to sell affordable tickets to Washington Commanders games for D.C. residents, funded by taxpayer money but aimed at benefiting local families.

Other topics include reflections on the evolving meaning of “woke” politics, a tribute to Nancy Kissinger, and commentary on the reliability of politicians’ statements.
