Park Service was founded on Aug. 25, 1916, marking 110 years since the U.S. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" certainly a unique time to be working for the National Park Service, and to be an American,\u201d Jason Martz, public affairs specialist for Gettysburg National Military Park and the Eisenhower National Historic site, told the <em>Washington Examiner.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s almost as if it\u2019s a layered cake, or something along those lines,\u201d Martz said. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" NPS\u2019s birthday, along with the 250th birthday of the United States, as seen in the Battle of Gettysburg and the \u201ccontinued saving of American <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democracy\/\">democracy<\/a>\u201d in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/world-war-ii\/\">World War II<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have the 19th century, we have the 20th century, and all of these extra layers when we\u2019re talking about the birthday of the National Park Service,\u201d Martz said.\u00a0\u201cWe have those two layers, and the additional layers associated with <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/america-250\/\">America 250<\/a>, so it\u2019s a really amazing single piece of American history right here in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Battle of Gettysburg is largely seen as one of the most important battles of the American Civil War. It marked a turning point, ending the Confederate army\u2019s invasion of the North, according to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/gett\/learn\/news\/presskit.htm\">National Park Service. <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intense battles happened at places such as Little Round Top.
