Trump criticized Canada for high tariffs on U.S. agricultural products and accused them of unfair practices, claiming that Canada has been &#8220;ripping off&#8221; the U.S.for years and treating the U.S. as if it were a subordinate state. In response, Canadian officials, including Mark Carney, threatened to retaliate with dollar-for-dollar tariffs. The ongoing trade tensions also involve disagreements over negotiations for a new U.S.-Canada-Mexico agreement, with tariffs already being announced on Canadian goods.
