They argued Roach should not have done a television interview in which he publicly agreed with the jury\u2019s guilty verdict two days after the end of the trial. Every defendant has the right to appeal, and our thoughts and prayers remain with the Metcalf family in the painful wake of last week\u2019s hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the two-day hearing last week, the prosecutors revealed a trove of disturbing texts sent by Anthony on the day of Metcalf\u2019s murder. In one text, the defendant said he wanted to \u201click their blood off the blade\u201d after stabbing someone. Prosecutors pointed to the messages as evidence that Anthony was spiraling in the hours leading up to Metcalf\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf with a pocketknife during a confrontation that started over a seating dispute in the stadium bleachers. The defense claimed he was acting in self-defense. The jury rejected that argument.
