Similarly, a well-known immigration lawyer in South Florida, Angel Leal, has been targeted with AI-created videos impersonating him and promoting scam services on social media, with over 6,000 instances reported. href=\"https:\/\/www.foxla.com\/news\/family-says-paid-10000-fake-immigration-attorney-who-used-ai-generated-avatar\">told<\/a> the Fox News affiliate in Los Angeles that they found what they thought was a solid immigration lawyer on Facebook who turned out to be an AI-generated avatar that stole thousands of dollars from them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family, who spoke anonymously through former congressional candidate Marena Lin, said they were told by someone they thought was a real immigration attorney that if they paid a $4,355 bond, their loved one would be released from the ICE detention center. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was not until later that they discovered the paperwork they had submitted to the AI bot posing as a lawyer was never lawyer in South Florida who has been targeted by AI through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-china-bought-positive-media-coverage-during-covid-19-according-to-damning-report\/\" title=\"How China Bought Positive Media Coverage During COVID-19, According To Damning Report\">fake videos purporting<\/a> to show him discussing immigration legal matters and telling those who need representation to call him for help on WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leal <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/south-florida-immigration-lawyers-identity-cloned-with-artificial-intelligence\/3817579\/?_osource=SocialFlowFB_MIBrand\">told<\/a> NBC-6 in Miami that he was aware of the imposter scam and had seen bogus videos of him across social media channels.
