(Credit: Laurel County Jail)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"h-unmasking-criminal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unmasking \u2018Criminal\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fbi\">FBI<\/a> became aware of Spitze\u2019s online crimes through his troubled home life and desire for fame, according to a DOJ <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpitzeFirstSentencingMemo.pdf\">sentencing memo<\/a> to the court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discord, a gaming platform where Spitze met victims under the alias \u201cCriminal,\u201d told the FBI in December 2023 about him and other users involved in child exploitation. As the FBI worked to identify \u201cCriminal,\u201d Spitze gained notoriety in early 2024 by posting a video of an abusive interaction with his mother\u2019s boyfriend in their home. The footage showed Spitze provoking the man into shooting him in the ear, prompting Spitze to later appear on a YouTube channel \u201cto paint himself as a victim,\u201d the DOJ wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal agents began piecing together who Spitze was as \u201cnumerous comments on YouTube identified the defendant as a pedophile,\u201d the DOJ said. His mother\u2019s boyfriend ultimately died by suicide in a standoff with police, and Spitze found his mother dead <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/hoodline.com\/2026\/08\/blount-county-man-faces-77-years-as-30-victims-confront-him-in-court\/\">from drug abuse<\/a> in a Knoxville hotel room days before Spitze\u2019s arrest. \u201cInstead of calling 911 for help after finding his mother unconscious in her own blood, the defendant made two graphic videos of the scene where his mother died and shared them to social media and online messaging applications,\u201d the DOJ\u2019s memo says.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scope of Spizte\u2019s cruelty to children became clearer when agents jailed him and searched his iPhone in February 2024, according to an <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpitzeAffidavit.pdf\">FBI affidavit<\/a>. Investigators found he had no job and spent endless hours targeting children \u201cto promote his content and elevate his status in [HarmNation] and 764,\u201d the sentencing memo says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spitze had created photo albums with labels such as \u201ccut signs\u201d showing victims\u2019 self-harm, the affidavit found. In addition to sexualizing themselves, his victims were coerced into killing and mutilating animals, including one who left a chicken in a bathtub \u201cwith the entrails pulled out to spell the defendant\u2019s moniker, \u2018crim,&#8217;\u201d according to the DOJ\u2019s memo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the defendant\u2019s victims, a 15-year-old female who was known to \u2018belong\u2019 to the defendant, is seen licking a toilet, her arms visibly bleeding from numerous wounds, believed to be self-afflicted,\u201d the memo said about one video.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The predation did not stop once Spitze was behind bars, court records show. His father, Michael Spitze, was <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/MichaelSpitzememo.pdf\">sentenced to 70 months<\/a> in federal prison in May after <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/MichaelSpitzeSentencingMemoDOJ.pdf\">admitting<\/a> to trying to tamper with witnesses during his son\u2019s incarceration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutors caught the elder Spitze helping his son contact four minor victims to try silencing them with gifts or orders to destroy evidence. \u201cJust don\u2019t tell anyone where you are getting $$ please,\u201d Michael Spitze wrote in one message to a child. \u201cWould not look right to many folks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOJ and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/MichaelSpitzeDefenseMemo.pdf\">defense lawyers<\/a> tied the father\u2019s actions to drug abuse, noting that Kyle dealt with the same habit. \u201cDefendant saw his son go down the same path doing nothing to stop it,\u201d prosecutors wrote in May.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eleven of Spitze\u2019s 30 victims were never identified, prosecutors said. Two ended their lives after he contacted them from jail, while another fled her home country. One victim wrote in an impact statement that she could hardly stand leaving her room or house due to the trauma of her abuse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter leaving school to recover, I was in one of the most vulnerable states of my life,\u201d yet another victim wrote. \u201cI had spent much of my teenage years being sexually extorted. \u2026 I lived in fear.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-he-is-completely-remorseless\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018He is completely remorseless\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI terms groups such as 764 as \u201cnihilistic violent extremists\u201d rather than more typical terrorists motivated by race, religion, or politics. \u201cThey want to sow chaos and facilitate the destruction of society,\u201d the bureau said in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/contact-us\/field-offices\/boston\/news\/fbi-boston-warns-of-nihilistic-violent-extremists-targeting-children-and-vulnerable-victims-online\">February warning to parents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">764 was <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/03\/doj-pedophile-cult-764-child-abuse-foreign-terrorists\/\">created on Discord<\/a> by Texas teenager <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2026\/02\/18\/trump-judge-kills-satanic-pedophile-leaders-appeal-764-nihilistic-violent-extremists\/\">Bradley Cadenhead<\/a> in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/ctc.westpoint.edu\/remotely-coerced-violence-764-the-com-network-and-the-hybridization-of-threats\/\">2020<\/a>, taking on Satanist-inspired themes and symbolism. The federal government\u2019s arrests of offenders in this category rose by 500% in 2025, FBI Director Kash Patel said while announcing Spitze\u2019s sentence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spitze advanced his ideology in jail by creating a \u201cdevil worship group\u201d with other inmates called \u201cColts Harmnation,\u201d prosecutors said in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpitzeDOJSecondMemo.pdf\">second sentencing memo<\/a>. Correctional officers found that he had convinced other inmates in 2024 to perform sexual acts as part of the cult, with one carving the group\u2019s symbol into his body. Spitze admitted to hiding a razor inside a personal Bible and pleaded guilty to several prison-related offenses over the incidents, according to the DOJ.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Defense attorney Jonathan Cooper <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpitzeResponseToSecondMemo.pdf\">objected<\/a> to \u201ceverything\u201d the DOJ said about the prison cult in a responding motion, despite officials hearing the entire story from those involved. \u201cThe level of government hyperbole has now, hopefully, reached a final pitch,\u201d Cooper wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spitze could continue posing a danger in prison if officials are not careful, researcher Becca Spinks told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. Spinks has spent years investigating and documenting nihilistic violent extremists and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/bxwrites.substack.com\/p\/kyle-spitze-the-rest-of-the-story-938?utm_campaign=posts-open-in-app&#038;triedRedirect=true\">reported<\/a> Spitze\u2019s concerning online footprint to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKyle has been seeking out mentally ill people in jail to cut themselves and do other things for him as part of his new \u2018devil worship cult,&#8217;\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s the DOJ\u2019s wording, not mine. He even modeled the name off of Harm Nation, the 764 splinter group, which was the basis for all the DOJ\u2019s evidence against him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s completely remorseless,\u201d Spinks told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an unusually passionate tone for a court filing, prosecutors asked George W. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Thomas_Varlan\">Bush-appointed<\/a> Judge Thomas Varlan for the maximum allowed punishment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCongratulations, you have our attention! Society is shocked and appalled at your actions and your [nihilistic violent extremist] ideology,\u201d they wrote about Spitze. \u201cSociety is aware of the permanent physical and emotional scars you and your 764\/HN members have given to the vulnerable young teen girls all over the world.
