Chicago and Atlanta, previous finalists, were excluded without clear reasons; Atlanta&#8217;s mayor criticized the decision, emphasizing the importance of the South. The party&#8217;s decision followed site visits to all five cities earlier this year.The final city will be chosen soon,with the convention serving as a crucial rallying point for the party&#8217;s potential presidential nominee,with contenders such as Pete Buttigieg,Gavin Newsom,and Kamala Harris speculated. South carolina has been designated as the first state to vote in the 2028 primary process, on January 22, 2028, perhaps benefiting Harris. The convention will serve as an opportunity for the Democratic voter base to rally around whoever the party\u2019s nominee will be.
