He compared prison to violence and argued that poverty and pollution are forms of violence. Despite his progressive stance, he has been associated with individuals convicted of violent crimes, including Carlnelus Simmons, a murderer who severely injured a toddler by dipping him in boiling water-an act that was not accidental. Simmons has a lengthy criminal history and received a 99-year sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Talarico&#8217;s advocacy aligns with his past comments about ending over-policing and his support for defunding police initiatives, including campaign donations to activist groups that push for such measures. He&#8217;s also faced scrutiny over legal irregularities, such as returning excess campaign contributions and questions about his residency, which some interpret as potential voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>His personal background includes publicly bragging about housing illegal immigrants in his church, which could breach federal law, especially considering his vocal opposition to immigration enforcement. Talarico has also shared guidance on resisting federal immigration laws. His political actions and personal conduct have been criticized amid ongoing debates over crime, immigration, and election law compliance, making his campaign controversial and under suspicion.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In 2022, leftist Texas Senate candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/28\/exclusive-mamas-boy-talarico-appears-to-have-broken-texas-election-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Talarico<\/a> jumped on board the defund-the-police train, arguing for diverting law enforcement funding to social programs. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pN8JpFde2So&#038;t=239s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told <\/a>inmates at a behind-bars High School graduation ceremony that he wanted to see a \u201cworld without prisons,\u201d and that he would work to \u201cmake prisons obsolete.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy experience as a teacher, as a legislator, and as a Christian tells me that birds don\u2019t belong in cages. Children don\u2019t belong in cages. People don\u2019t belong in cages,\u201d Talarico <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jamestalarico\/status\/1513598848987504646\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in his Ferguson Prison graduation speech. <\/p>\n<p>In the same speech the Democrat argued that, \u201cPoverty is violence. Pollution is violence. And, yes, prison is violence.\u201d <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Immersed In A Hot Liquid\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>You know what is real violence? Violence. Violence committed by many of the violent criminals serving time at the men\u2019s prison in Midway, Texas, where a rising star in far-left Lone Star State\u2019s politics gave his talk on how unfair the \u201csystem\u201d is. <\/p>\n<p>Prisoners like <a href=\"https:\/\/inmate.tdcj.texas.gov\/InmateSearch\/reviewDetail.action?sid=04656530&#038;tdcj=01786474&#038;fullName=SIMMONS%2CCARLNELUS+DELANEY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carlnelus Delaney Simmons,<\/a> a very violent man serving a 99-year sentence for murdering his girlfriend\u2019s 16-month-old boy. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/inmate.tdcj.texas.gov\/InmateSearch\/viewDetail.action?sid=04656530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prison records <\/a>and the website <a href=\"https:\/\/abuseangels.wixsite.com\/abuseangels\/jabraylon-bables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Abuse Angels,<\/a> Simmons \u201cdeliberately dipped\u201d Jabraylon Quintez Bables \u201cinto a pot of boiling water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJabraylon survived the initial burning. But his suffering did not end that day. He spent the following 36 days fighting for his life. The burns caused catastrophic damage to his tiny body,\u201d Abuse Angels notes on its <a href=\"https:\/\/abuseangels.wixsite.com\/abuseangels\/jabraylon-bables\">website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>According to the case file, doctors reported that the nature of the burns indicated that the toddler had been \u201cimmersed in a hot liquid and that the burns were not accidental.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the doctors\u2019 opinion, it appeared the toddler had been immersed in the liquid wearing a diaper, which leaked a little causing the burn to his buttock, and had folded his body into a fetal position to protect himself,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/cases\/texas\/fifth-court-of-appeals\/2013\/05-12-00632-cr-0.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">court documents<\/a> state. The physician who performed the autopsy agreed. <\/p>\n<p>Would it surprise you to learn that Simmons had a long <a href=\"https:\/\/inmate.tdcj.texas.gov\/InmateSearch\/viewDetail.action?sid=04656530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rap sheet<\/a> filled with violent crimes and serious drug offenses before he landed at Ferguson for century sentence? The inmates record included a homicide conviction for killing a man in a bar fight in 1994. <\/p>\n<h2>A \u2018Really Exciting\u2019 Opportunity<\/h2>\n<p>Simmons and monsters like him have an advocate in the 37-year-old \u201cprogressive\u201d politician who wants to be Texas\u2019 next U.S. senator. This is, after all, the guy who, drunk on BLM madness in 2020, said the times presented a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/exclusive-resurfaced-video-shows-james-talarico-discussing-exciting-opportunity-end-over-policing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201creally exciting\u201d<\/a> opportunity to \u201cend the current situation of over-policing communities of color which has been in place in this country since its founding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same guy who conveniently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-ripped-disgusting-absence-bill-punish-violent-criminals-girl-strangled-grisly-killing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">missed a vote<\/a> on a state bill that would have denied bail to illegal immigrants charged with violent crimes. <a href=\"https:\/\/texasscorecard.com\/state\/jocelyns-law-stalled-in-texas-house-as-democrats-withhold-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cJocelyn\u2019s Law\u201d<\/a> was named in honor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/03\/honoring-jocelyn-nungaray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jocelyn Nungaray<\/a>, a pre-teen girl allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted and strangled to death by illegal aliens. <\/p>\n<p>Talarico, too, voted against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-ripped-disgusting-absence-bill-punish-violent-criminals-girl-strangled-grisly-killing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Damon Allen Act,<\/a> legislation named in honor of Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Damon Allen murdered by a a suspect out on bail. And he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/09\/us-news\/james-talarico-proudly-donated-to-group-pushing-cut-in-cop-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cproudly\u201d<\/a> chipped in campaign donations to an activist group urging the defunding of the Austin police department. <\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Talarico has such a soft spot in his heart for criminals and antipathy for prisons and cops because he himself has had some trouble with the law. <\/p>\n<p>As Fox News Digital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/exclusive-talarico-caught-tape-giggling-church-housing-illegal-immigrants-set-deportation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> earlier this month, Talarico was caught on tape chuckling about his church housing illegal aliens. The Senate candidate boasted about his church\u2019s leftist credentials, including early activism for \u201cLGBTQ rights.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe caught some attention by letting an atheist join our church in the 2000s, and then in the 2010s, again stirred some controversy by housing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/immigration\/illegal-immigrants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undocumented family<\/a>, a mother and son, who were close to being deported by ICE,\u201d he says in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DNL-Tnhcr0Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The giddy admission may not sit well with a lot of Texans still dealing with the damage of four years of an open Southwest border under President Joe Biden\u2019s term in office. <\/p>\n<p>Harboring illegal aliens, \u201cencouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts,\u201d is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/jm\/criminal-resource-manual-1907-title-8-usc-1324a-offenses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal offense<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate candidate also posted a guide to help criminal illegal immigrants <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jamestalarico\/status\/1149785576469618689\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cfight back\u201d<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-refuses-to-deport-illegal-immigrant-who-allegedly-scrawled-swastikas-on-d-c-union-station\/\" title=\"Biden Administration Refuses to Deport Illegal Immigrant Who Allegedly Scrawled Swastikas on D.C. Union Station\">federal immigration law enforcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Talarico has also faced scrutiny over his campaign\u2019s finance filings. Earlier this week NOTUS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notus.org\/money\/james-talarico-campaign-money-excessive-contributions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported <\/a>that the Democrat\u2019s campaign has had to return north of $1 million in contributions that exceeded federal donation limits. <\/p>\n<p>And, as The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/28\/exclusive-mamas-boy-talarico-appears-to-have-broken-texas-election-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first reported,<\/a> Talarico\u2019s living arrangements stank of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2026\/08\/05\/texas-senate-james-talarico-election-law-residency-ken-paxton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voter fraud<\/a> \u2014 after he accused his Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, of the same election law violations. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Being 37 years old and sharing a checking account with your mom is super weird for any adult man that age, but doing that while running for the senate is disqualifying. But then again, he said, it was once difficult to imagine a world without <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/we-could-make-prisons-obsolete-james-talarico-called-to-slash-police-budgets-and-spend-the-money-on-social-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201ctelegrams and cassette tapes<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDreaming is the first step,\u201d he mused.<\/p>\n<p>The dream for Talarico and his fellow leftist friends \u2014 defund the police, abolish ICE, close prisons, would be a nightmare for communities across the country.
