Florida’s primaries saw Trump-endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds winning his gubernatorial race comfortably, while in Wyoming, Megan Degenfelder, also backed by Trump, lost to state sen. Eric Barlow. Alaska’s primary advanced former Rep. Mary Peltola and incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan to the general election, setting up a potential statewide contest.

Significant victories included socialist candidate Angie Nixon in Florida’s Democratic Senate primary, defeating well-funded veteran Alex Vindman, demonstrating grassroots support for DSA-aligned candidates. Conversely, establishment Democrats such as Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jared Moskowitz maintained their seats despite challenges from progressives, indicating continued party dominance in some areas.

Online political presence proved insufficient for several social-media-heavy candidates, such as Dan Bilzerian and James Fishback, whose campaigns failed to translate social media engagement into votes. Notably, fishback’s campaign was marred by allegations and controversy, leading to a third-place finish.

Trump’s influence in gubernatorial races waned, exemplified by his endorsed candidate megan Degenfelder’s loss in Wyoming to Barlow, and failed attempts in other states like georgia and minnesota. In florida, incumbent Rep. Cory Mills was defeated amid scandals and ethics investigations despite an initial Trump endorsement.

these primaries reveal both the sustained power of customary political insiders and the ongoing challenges for outsider and social-media-focused campaigns, alongside a notable push by socialist candidates and a decline in Trump’s direct endorsement effectiveness in some races.

The latest round of midterm primaries swept from Florida, through Wyoming, and up to Alaska on Tuesday, crowning a socialist candidate with another victory and dealing President Donald Trump split results with his gubernatorial endorsements.

In Florida, Trump-endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) cruised to victory in the Republican gubernatorial primary, while Trump-endorsed Megan Degenfelder fell to state Sen.
