Notable issues include investigations into sexual misconduct, domestic abuse, misuse of funds, campaign violations, and other misconduct. Several representatives, such as Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, resigned after ethics violations, while others like Jimmy Gomez and Max Miller have publicly addressed their situations, with Miller calling for an internal ethics review of himself. Cherfilus-McCormick ran in Tuesday\u2019s primary but lost her comeback bid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the 10 ongoing House investigations of representatives:<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-jimmy-gomez-d-ca\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jimmy Gomez (D-CA)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this year, the committee had begun the early stages of an investigation after an April <em>New York Post<\/em><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/18\/us-news\/rep-jimmy-gomez-friend-of-of-eric-swalwell-accused-of-kissing-staffer\/\">  story<\/a> alleged the congressman was seen kissing an aide. Gomez said he did not violate any<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house\/\"> House<\/a> ethics rules, but he acknowledged he had made mistakes in his marriage. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYears ago, I made personal mistakes outside my marriage that have caused real pain to my wife and family,\u201d Gomez said in a statement around the time of the <em>New York Post<\/em> story. \u201cAlthough my actions were consensual in nature and haven\u2019t violated the law or House ethics rules, that doesn\u2019t diminish the impact that these mistakes have made on those I care about the most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI take full responsibility and have committed myself to working through the pain privately with my wife and family,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI sought professional assistance to help re-center and heal the relationships that mean everything to me, and move forward with the honesty, transparency, and respect that everyone deserves from the people they love. I continue to do this work.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-max-miller-r-oh\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Max Miller (R-OH)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miller took the unusual step of calling for a<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ethics\/\"> House Ethics Committee<\/a> investigation into himself earlier this month following allegations of domestic abuse and drug use. Despite pressure to drop out of his reelection bid in the run-up to the withdrawal deadline, Mille defiantly remained in the race.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethics investigation into myself to clear my name from these horrific attacks on myself and family,\u201d Miller posted on X. \u201cI have absolutely nothing to hide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miller faces allegations of<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/domestic-violence\/\"> domestic violence<\/a> made against him by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-lance-gooden-r-tx\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lance Gooden (R-TX)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee announced it was looking into Gooden last month but did not specify the details of the inquiry. Gooden said after the announcement that the investigation was related to \u201cspending\u201d and he denounced the allegations as baseless.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the July 27 announcement, the committee said it will announce its course of action by Nov. 9.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-cory-mills-r-fl\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cory Mills (R-FL)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ethics Committee\u2019s investigation said it would look into a myriad of allegations against Mills, including allegations that he violated campaign finance laws, improperly received gifts and special favors, misused congressional resources, and committed sexual misconduct or dating violence. Mills has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He <strong>LOST\/WON <\/strong>his primary on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-lamonica-mciver-d-nj\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">LaMonica McIver (D-NJ)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McIver is under review by the committee for criminal charges after an altercation with federal officers at Delaney Hall, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, last year. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-henry-cuellar-d-tx\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Henry Cuellar (D-TX)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuellar was indicted on corruption charges during the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/biden-administration\/\">Biden administration<\/a>, but President Donald Trump pardoned him at the end of 2025.  Cuellar faced charges of bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, and acting as a foreign agent, among other counts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee reauthorized the investigation for the 119th Congress in July 2025, before Trump pardoned him later that year. Cuellar is running for reelection in one of the most competitive seats in the country in the Laredo, Texas, area.  <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-andy-ogles-r-tn\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Andy Ogles (R-TN)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ogles, who lost his primary earlier this month, remains under investigation for violations over allegations of campaign finance laws. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-troy-nehls-r-tx\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Troy Nehls (R-TX)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee is probing Nehls for allegedly using campaign money for his personal benefit. He is not running for reelection, but his twin brother, Trever Nehls, is running to replace him. The Ethics Committee has still not publicly released its findings or announced action. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-nancy-mace-r-sc\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nancy Mace (R-SC)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mace, who lost her run for South Carolina governor in the primary, has a case to look into her reimbursement requests for a property, in which she allegedly requested more reimbursements than expenses incurred. Her lawyers challenged the report from the Office of Congressional Conduct, an independent entity from the committee. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4691234\/hakeem-jeffries-progressive-backlash-condemning-antisemitic-remarks-randy-fine\/\">JEFFRIES FACES PROGRESSIVE BACKLASH FOR CONDEMNING ANTISEMITIC ATTACKS ON RANDY FINE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-mike-collins-r-ga\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mike Collins (R-GA)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collins, the Republican Senate nominee in Georgia, is under review following an Office of Congressional Conduct referral saying that his former chief of staff, Brandon Phillips, hired his girlfriend as an intern.
