His mixed record on Israel, including votes for and against U.S. military aid,has led to criticism from Jewish donors and political leaders in Georgia, who question his commitment to Israel’s security. Some voters, like Cheryl Dorchinsky, a formerly Democratic voter now considered “politically homeless,” express disappointment with Ossoff’s stance, especially given his pro-Israel rhetoric. His campaign has declined to comment on these criticisms.

Republican opponent Mike Collins has attacked Ossoff, citing his perceived wavering on Israel and personal controversies involving Collins’s son-in-law’s past antisemitic posts, though Collins herself has distanced from those views. Collins also faces scrutiny over his own connections to individuals associated with white nationalism. Voters remain uncertain, with some frustrated by both candidates’ flaws.

Jewish donors historically support Democratic candidates but are now more selective, supporting those they see as genuinely pro-Israel and against antisemitism. While some Democrats are cutting back on donations due to extremist candidates emerging from primaries, others believe political loyalties will ultimately favor ossoff. Ossoff’s prospects depend on how jewish and moderate voters weigh his record, his stance on israel, and local political dynamics.

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is putting Georgia’s longtime Democratic Jewish voters in a spot this November that some once thought would be virtually unthinkable: whether to support the Peach State’s first Jewish senator for a second term in one of the country’s most competitive races.

Ossoff’s mixed record on Israel, which includes votes for and against U.S. military aid, has stirred fierce criticism from Jewish donors and political leaders in Georgia.
