Ralph Norman, with the winner set to face Democrat Annie Andrews.the elections highlighted ongoing political tensions, with Trump\u2019s influence evident in candidate support and results.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Wisconsin Democrats on Tuesday disregarded the polls and narrowly rejected an avowed socialist as their nominee for governor in the Badger State\u2019s nationally-watched primary election. <\/p>\n<p>Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who dropped out of the race late only to be coaxed back in by the so-called Democratic Party \u201cestablishment,\u201d defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong by razor thin margins. <\/p>\n<p>Per usual, Crowley\u2019s Milwaukee County faced a ballot count delay, a stoppage that dragged out the tally for hours and was once again blamed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/human-error-forces-delay-in-milwaukee-primary-election-results\/73409614\">\u201chum<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/human-error-forces-delay-in-milwaukee-primary-election-results\/73409614\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/human-error-forces-delay-in-milwaukee-primary-election-results\/73409614\">n error.<\/a>\u201d It\u2019s another in a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/05\/trying-to-figure-out-what-they-need-to-win-broken-seals-and-delays-draw-malfeasance-accusations-in-milwaukee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">string <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/05\/trying-to-figure-out-what-they-need-to-win-broken-seals-and-delays-draw-malfeasance-accusations-in-milwaukee\/\">of election night messes<\/a> for Milwaukee, Wisconsin\u2019s most-populated \u2014 and election integrity challenged city.  <\/p>\n<p>With 98.4 percent of the vote in just before 2 a.m., Crowley led by just four-tenths of a percentage point, or just over 3,000 votes. The New York Times finally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2026\/08\/12\/us\/wisconsin-election-results-governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> the race for Crowley just before 3 a.m. local time. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Best Candidate to Lose the Race\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Crowley\u2019s narrow victory was a stunner, with Hong heading into election day holding a commanding lead in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/hong-leads-democratic-primary-governor-new-marquette-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">polls<\/a> and plenty of pundits calling the time of death on Crowley\u2019s 11th-hour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/hong-leads-democratic-primary-governor-new-marquette-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reentry<\/a> into the race. Reports of the less far-left candidate\u2019s political demise were premature. <\/p>\n<p>The big guns of said establishment were sweating long into the wee hours of the morning, as they watched Crowley hold on to win. It was a near-miss for a party that dreaded the daunting task of running a radical socialist with an inexhaustible supply of crazy tweets and crazier policy positions. The GOP\u2019s candidate, Rep. Tom Tiffany, is a down-to-earth conservative who represents the Northwoods 7th Congressional District that Trump Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy previously served.<\/p>\n<p>Tiffany cruised to primary win over a challenger who grabbed just 4 1\/2 percent of the vote. <\/p>\n<p>Two-term Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat who supports many of the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MegynKelly\/videos\/aoc-laughs-woke-1-was-crazy-as-a-way-to-move-past-the-lefts-excesses-of-2020s\/2134724007464284\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cwoke 1.0\u201d<\/a> policies that Hong has championed, helped resurrect Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley\u2019s moribund campaign just a few weeks before election day. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong other people\u2019s necks who are on the line tonight are Gov. Evers, who went all-in over the last 10 days or so making appearances [for Crowley],\u201d Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Brian Schimming told me Tuesday on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/1248-the-jason-goch-show-317184863\/now-playing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Jason Goch Show<\/em> in Milwaukee.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Evers earlier this month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2026\/08\/03\/tony-evers-hits-campaign-trail-with-david-crowley-to-stave-off-hong\/91160104007\/?gnt-cfr=1&#038;gca-cat=p&#038;gca-uir=true&#038;gca-epti=z116151p119450l115450c119450e1155xxv116151d--40--b--40--&#038;gca-ft=192&#038;gca-ds=sophi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he didn\u2019t think the radical Hong could win in November\u2019s general election. And the governor who fought for moms to be described as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/05\/outgoing-wisconsin-gov-tony-evers-is-going-out-with-a-leftist-bang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cinseminated persons\u201d<\/a> in state documents, took a subtle shot at the socialist\u2019s ability to govern the state, saying after eight years in office he wants to \u201cleave Wisconsin in good hands when someone else takes over.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Some of Hong\u2019s most high profile Democratic Socialists of America comrades refused to endorse her. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, the godfather of American socialism, and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, busy these days <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/08\/11\/freezing-your-eggs-is-bad-biology-doing-it-at-36-like-aoc-is-even-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">freezing her eggs<\/a>, both balked at giving their political blessing to Hong. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, it\u2019s the only time that I know that the governor \u2014 Tony Evers \u2014 the Republican Governors Association and Turning Point USA have ever been on the same page: in thinking that Francesca Hong is the best candidate to lose this race,\u201d Crowley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/08\/09\/wisconsin-governor-race-hong-crowley-electability-01030198\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in an interview last week with Politico at a local tavern in Sheboygan. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Cancel Thanksgiving\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>In one of the more ridiculous political reinventions since Millard Fillmore jumped on the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/elections\/1856\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Know Nothing Party<\/a> bus in 1856,\u00a0 Hong spent much of the campaign pretending she\u2019s nothing like her social media posts. The radical\u2019s long record of extreme tweets and socialist policy positions have dogged her throughout a Dem Party primary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/10\/us\/politics\/francesca-hong-wisconsin-democratic-primary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exploding with scandal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Hong\u2019s most cringeworthy flip-flop involved one of America\u2019s most cherished holidays. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621,\u201d the critical race theory-spewing socialist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/08\/10\/father-of-woman-killed-by-illegal-alien-warns-badger-state-voters-dont-let-wisconsin-become-illinois\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opined<\/a> on Twitter on Nov. 16, 2020 \u2014 in the crux of Covid. \u201cIf it takes a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and the original superspreader event that killed Indigenous folx and women so be it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fearing backlash from Democratic Party voters who haven\u2019t plunged headfirst into the DSA\u2019s radical waters, Hong has awkwardly attempted to distance herself from herself. She no longer wants to cancel Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually love it,\u201d the shameless gubernatorial candidate recently <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/politico\/status\/2085067906262438095?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Politico. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Democratic socialist Francesca Hong addressed her &#8220;cancel Thanksgiving&#8221; tweet \u2013 joking to our <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iriesentner?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@iriesentner<\/a>  that the holiday is actually her favorite.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what she said\ud83d\udc47 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tWL92k1IKM\">pic.twitter.com\/tWL92k1IKM<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 POLITICO (@politico) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/politico\/status\/2085067906262438095?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 5, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Hong went all-in on the Black Lives Matter fiery but mostly peaceful movement, demanding policymakers defund \u2014 and abolish \u2014 the police. She <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/08\/10\/father-of-woman-killed-by-illegal-alien-warns-badger-state-voters-dont-let-wisconsin-become-illinois\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> the same about federal immigration law enforcement. Hong told supporters that her \u201cperfect world would be a world without prisons,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs58.com\/news\/francesca-hong-stands-by-comments-about-having-vision-for-a-world-without-police-or-prisons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> audio obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Her \u201ctax the rich\u201d tax-and-spend proposal would hit Wisconsin with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/opinion\/francesca-hong-the-socialists-next-hope-9dc2f3c2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-biden-admin-already-dropping-estate-tax-hike-from-economic-plan\/\" title=\"...ort: Biden Admin Already Dropping E... Tax Hike From \u2018Economic Plan\u2019\">highest personal income tax rate<\/a><\/a> in the nation \u2014 higher than the current champion, California \u2014 by nearly 4 percentage points. Like fellow socialist, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Hong <a href=\"https:\/\/francescahong.com\/policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cwrote a bill<\/a> to create publicly-owned grocery stores.\u201d She\u2019s an absolute hawk on <a href=\"https:\/\/francescahong.com\/policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protecting sex changes for children<\/a> and \u201cstudents\u2019 preferred pronouns.\u201d <\/p>\n<h2>More Milwaukee Mess <\/h2>\n<p>The long wait for election results has become standard operating procedure for Wisconsin elections, mucked up by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefga.org\/research\/the-wisconsin-zuckerbucks-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest round<\/a> of irregularities from Milwaukee election officials. <\/p>\n<p>As ABC Milwaukee affiliate WISN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/human-error-forces-delay-in-milwaukee-primary-election-results\/73409614\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported,<\/a> Milwaukee Election Commission Executive Director Paulina Gutierrez \u201cdiscovered five of the nine flash drives brought to central count had the audit log downloaded and not the results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Election officials had to head back to central count in Milwaukee and download the results for a second time from five ballot tabulators. The results were to be \u201creuploaded\u201d at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, Gutierrez told WISN. <\/p>\n<p>Based on the unofficial count, when the final Milwaukee County vote was finally tallied, Crowley had won the county by nearly 2,400 votes. <\/p>\n<p>In other key primary races Tuesday \u2026 <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018A Battle for the Soul of America\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s nationally-watched 3rd Congressional District contest will be a rematch from 2024. Democrat Rebecca Cooke, who identifies as a moderate the same way the fellow formerly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/mercercountyoutlook.net\/2025\/03\/22\/politics-tim-mcbride-before-he-became-sarah-mcbride\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tim McBride<\/a> identifies as a Delaware congresswoman, will face off against two-term\u00a0 incumbent Republican Derrick Van Orden, who beat Cooke by 11,000 votes in their last matchup. The 3rd is one of a handful of races Democrats believe they can knock off in November in their pursuit to take back the House. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRebecca Cooke is exactly who the national Democrats wanted, an anointed candidate they know will carry water for the socialists who have taken over their party,\u201d Van Orden said in a press release.\u00a0\u201cThis election is about what kind of country we are going to leave to our children and grandchildren. It is a battle for the soul of America.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Trump Power<\/h2>\n<p>In the race to replace Tiffany, Duffy\u2019s son-in-law Michael Alfonso crushed his competitors, showing again the power of President Donald Trump\u2019s endorsement. Alfonso is the odds-on favorite to win the general in the ruby red district. <\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old Alfonso entered Tuesday with a sizable lead in the polls over second-place finisher Kevin Hermening, a financial adviser and Marine veteran who was one of the 52 captives in the Iran Hostage Crisis.\u00a0The four-person primary grew increasingly contentious, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/attack-ad-calls-gop-house-candidate-michael-alfonso-nepo-baby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attack ads<\/a> labeling frontrunner Alfonso a \u201cnepo baby.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Didn\u2019t matter. Duffy\u2019s son-in-law had the backing of conservative stalwart organizations Turning Point USA and Moms for Liberty and members of Wisconsin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2026\/fitzgerald-steil-and-wied-campaigns-endorse-michael-alfonso-for-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Republican congressional delegation<\/a>. But the Trump endorsement proved powerful once again, as the president wracks up an impressive success record this election cycle. <\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s Truth Social account was filled Tuesday with celebratory posts of the endorsement wins he collected. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Dying to Run Against\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The president\u2019s choice for Republican governor in blue state Minnesota didn\u2019t fare so well. MyPillow peddler Mike Lindell, who built a lead in the polls, lost to State House Speaker Lisa Demuth in the race to replace TDS Democrat and fraud scandal patriarch Gov. Tim Walz. DeMuth also defeated Minnesota businessman Kendall Qualls, who picked up the <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/article\/2026\/08\/12\/minnesota-governor-republican-primary-election-result-demuth-lindell-qualls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endorsement<\/a> of the Minnesota GOP.  <\/p>\n<p>DeMuth will face Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/failed-presidential-candidate-wins-dem-primary-midwest-governor-fraud-scandal-fallout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Amy Klobuchar,<\/a> who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2026-primary-elections\/minnesota-governor-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sailed to victory<\/a> Tuesday for her party\u2019s gubernatorial nomination. <\/p>\n<p>Minnesota Democrats stayed true to their leftward lurch, delivering a primary victory to far-left Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan in the Democratic primary for Senate. Flanagan defeated the left-proclaimed \u201cmoderate\u201d in the race, Rep. Angie Craig. Craig had the money and the backing of outgoing senator and Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferer Tina Smith, as well as Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Bernie Sanders of Vermont \u2014 the \u201cestablishment.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Flanagan, who constantly reminded identity politics Democrats that she would be Minnesota\u2019s first <a href=\"https:\/\/nativenewsonline.net\/currents\/breaking-peggy-flanagan-white-earth-ojibwe-wins-minnesota-democratic-u-s-senate-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cNative woman\u201d<\/a> to be elected to the U.S. Senate, ingratiated herself with Minnesota\u2019s Somali community when she showed up at a Mosque last December wearing a hijab. It was a gesture of solidarity as federal investigators stepped up investigations into the state\u2019s welfare fraud scandal, which to a significant extent involved members of the Somali community. <\/p>\n<p>Craig <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/elections\/democrats-are-blaming-each-other-over-minnesotas-welfare-fraud-scandal-cac83409\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">argued<\/a> that \u201cRepublicans are dying to run against\u201d Flanagan because she was front and center in the state\u2019s welfare fraud scandal. That didn\u2019t seem to matter to Minnesota Democrats, who chose the lieutenant governor by a wide margin.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican running against her will be former sportscaster Michele Tafoya, who<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/11\/us-news\/former-nfl-sideline-reporter-michele-tafoya-wins-minnesota-gop-senate-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> coasted to victory<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2>South Carolina Runoff Set <\/h2>\n<p>In South Carolina\u2019s GOP Senate primary, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham\u2019s sister, Darlene Graham, appointed to serve out the rest of his term, will face Rep. Ralph Norman in an Aug. 25 runoff. <\/p>\n<p>Darlene Graham, endorsed by President Trump, won 33 percent of the total vote, while Norman grabbed 25 percent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2026\/08\/11\/us\/elections-south-carolina-wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2026\/08\/11\/us\/elections-south-carolina-wisconsin\">  to<\/a> unofficial results as of early Wednesday morning. The packed field of 10 candidates, including Norman, Rep. Russell Fry and former Gov.
