Chantal Morales Rojas of Ecuador was taken into custody for overstaying a visa and was supposed to have left the country 18 months ago, according to the federal agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A spokesperson for Airlines 4 America, the trade association that represents leading U.S. airlines, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that airlines are speaking with Department of Homeland Security agencies ICE and the Transportation Security Administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAirlines continue to have constructive discussions with ICE and TSA to ensure if law enforcement activity occurs at an airport, there are proper procedures and protocols in place to prioritize the safety and security of all involved, including travelers, employees and agents,\u201d Airlines 4 America wrote in an email.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-16\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and American Airlines did not respond to requests for comment on concerns about how the increased presence of ICE at airports has affected business. TSA can then screen that information to see who will be showing up at security checkpoints and share it with other federal agencies, such as ICE.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of late July, ICE had arrested visa overstayers at airports across nine states, including California and Virginia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ICE\u2019s presence at airports is new and comes as the White House seeks to ramp up illegal immigrant arrests, which hovered around 1,600 per day nationwide as of early July, the highest point in President Donald Trump\u2019s second term.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although ICE has focused its efforts on arresting the \u201cworst of the worst,\u201d or illegal immigrants with criminal histories, the percentage of noncriminal arrests has grown since the spring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two married pastors <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4665620\/ice-detained-pastors-overstayed-visas-released-henry-cuellar-texas\/\">arrested<\/a> at a Texas airport last month for overstaying their religious visas were released from federal custody following intervention from Rep.\u00a0Henry Cuellar\u00a0(D-TX).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The church leaders, 36-year-old Nepthali Zozaya Saucedo and 34-year-old Cinthia Sarai Cardona Otero, were supposed to have left the United States by July 7, 2022, and had overstayed their religious <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/visas\/\">visas<\/a> by more than four years, an offense that makes them deportable by ICE.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4665620\/ice-detained-pastors-overstayed-visas-released-henry-cuellar-texas\/\"><strong>ICE ARRESTED TWO PASTORS WHO OVERSTAYED THEIR RELIGIOUS VISAS.
