Francesca Hong leading the race with less than a 1% difference, based on 75% of votes counted. Hong, representing part of Madison and a progressive, had entered as the front-runner after consolidating support, while Crowley made a late comeback after temporarily dropping out and reentering the race following Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez\u2019s departure. A recount is not automatic but can be requested if the margin falls below 1%. The winner will face Republican Tom Tiffany, backed by trump, in the November general election. Hong campaigned on proposals including universal childcare, higher taxes on the wealthy, and a moratorium on new data centers, while Crowley positioned himself as a more centrist candidate who could compete in a state Trump narrowly carried in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crowley received a major boost late in the race when Evers endorsed him and joined him on the campaign trail.
