Ned Lamont (D-CT) successfully defended his gubernatorial primary challenge from state rep. Josh Elliott, winning with approximately 67% of the votes and securing the Democratic nomination for a third term.Lamont,in office since 2019,highlighted his record of bipartisan leadership and campaign success fueled largely by his personal wealth, spending over $9 million of his own money. Elliott, emphasizing progressive policies like a proposed income surcharge, positioned his campaign as a push for a shift further left in Connecticut politics. Despite losing the primary, Elliott remains a candidate for reelection in his state House district. Lamont is set to face Republican Ryan Fazio in the November general election; polls show Lamont with a pleasant lead. If he wins, Lamont would be only the second Connecticut governor in nearly two centuries to serve three terms. Supporters like Gov. andy Beshear praised lamont’s accomplishments and leadership style, which includes meaningful social and economic reforms.

Gov.
