He is scheduled for a September evidence hearing regarding residency issues during the 2024 elections and an october trial over allegations of assault on an ex-girlfriend. El Alamin, a former drug dealer with a cleared record, has denied the assault charges and claims the residency allegations are false. While on bail, he plans to run for a diffrent city council ward in November, but could lose his current office if convicted of a felony.His social media still shows endorsements for el Sayed from April and July 2025, and he was featured alongside el Sayed in a 2017 Muslim advocacy report. The campaign and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment. Despite ongoing controversies, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and her management did not investigate these issues, instead leaving them to local authorities.
