the idea of voter ID laws in an <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BO7iGdo2Yig?si=tL_7vU6tRqiiGkkH&#038;t=713\">interview<\/a> with News 12 in the wake of the news, saying, \u201cI would support that, I don\u2019t have a problem with voter ID.\u201d However, she did put her foot down against President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s championed <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/save-america-act\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"22939\">SAVE America Act<\/a>, which would require a valid, government-issued photo ID to the personal identifying information of New Jerseyans into the federal government\u2019s systems, which I\u2019m opposed to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sean Higgins, a spokeman for Sherrill, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that the governor is \u201copen to considering proposals\u201d for stronger voter ID laws in the wake of the July news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGovernor Sherrill supports the current rules requiring\u00a0ID\u00a0for\u00a0voter\u00a0registration and she is open to considering proposals to strengthen those to make sure we have the strongest, fairest elections in the nation,\u201d Higgins said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-2\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap href=\"https:\/\/voter.svrs.nj.gov\/register\">Division of Elections<\/a>, to register to vote, New Jerseyans are required to show a valid\u00a0driver\u2019s license or ID card issued by the state Motor Vehicle Commission\u00a0or present the state with their Social Security number.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sherrill spokesman did, however, double down on the New Jersey governor\u2019s stance against election security reform coming from \u201cMAGA Republicans,\u201d calling their efforts \u201cvoter suppression attempts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGovernor Sherrill served our country in the military and as a public servant because she believes in every citizen\u2019s right to participate in our democracy by voting,\u201d Higgins said. \u201cThat\u2019s why she has stood firm against MAGA Republicans voter suppression attempts and Trump\u2019s demands for New Jersey voters\u2019 personal identifiable announcement about the noncitizens removed from its voter rolls, the White House used the instance as a pinpoint example of the need for the SAVE America Act. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4657750\/white-house-victory-lap-discovery-6600-noncitizens-new-jersey-voter-rolls\/\">told<\/a> the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> in July that \u201call patriotic Americans should join in [Trump\u2019s] effort\u201d to secure federal elections with the SAVE Act.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/4666077\/new-jersey-keeps-contracts-vendor-gov-sherrill-blames-voter-registration-error\/\">NEW JERSEY KEEPS TWO CONTRACTS WITH VENDOR THAT GOV.
