However,fertility experts highlight that delaying egg freezing until the late 30s is less effective,as women&#8217;s fertility declines sharply after 30,with success rates dropping substantially for women over 36. Studies by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine show only about 20% of women over 36 successfully carry a pregnancy from frozen eggs. AOC indicates she froze her eggs due to not having found a partner or feeling pressured about parenthood, despite being in a long-term relationship and engaged. The trend of egg freezing is increasing nationally, with tens of thousands of procedures annually, often at ages 35-40. Yet, biological realities mean that chances of natural conception diminish with age, and paternal age also influences offspring health risks.<\/p>\n<p>Alternative strategies like surrogacy or using younger sperm are mentioned as options, but they raise ethical and societal concerns. Experts advocate for women to have children earlier, ideally in their 20s, when fertility peaks, before societal shifts led to delayed motherhood. Data shows a decline in birth rates and a shift in childbearing age over recent decades, complicating national demographic stability. Policy analysts argue that efforts should focus on promoting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-why-democrats-have-waged-war-on-pregnancy-centers\/\" title=\"Here\u2019s Why Democrats Have Waged War On Pregnancy Centers\">pro-family culture<\/a> that values early parenthood rather than relying solely on technological solutions like IVF, which do not significantly increase birth rates. the message stresses the importance of aligning reproductive choices with biological realities to sustain population growth and societal well-being.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>America\u2019s favorite liberal female Democratic Socialist, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, took to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/09\/us-news\/aoc-starts-process-of-freezing-her-eggs-hints-at-2028-mindset-i-think-its-badass\/?utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=nypost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram <\/a>this weekend to create a get-ready-with-me vlog about freezing her eggs at 36 years old.<\/p>\n<p>In her video, she called the process of pumping her body full of chemicals \u201cbad-ss\u201d and said she felt \u201cempowered\u201d and \u201cmore in control of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of AOC\u2019s feelings, pursuing fertility at 36 is just about as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KeenanPeachy\/status\/2086505994964922635?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flawed<\/a> as starting investing for retirement in your 60s \u2014 both are supposed to happen early for maximum payoff. The healthiness of a woman\u2019s eggs and her ability to carry a child to term drop dramatically by <a href=\"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/2019\/06\/06\/poll-finds-women-35-would-have-attempted-pregnancy-sooner-if-they-had-known-more-about-age-related-fertility-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the late 30s<\/a>. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Freezing your eggs at 36 is like opening a 401K at 64<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Peachy Keenan (@KeenanPeachy) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KeenanPeachy\/status\/2086505994964922635?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 9, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Even leading IVF scientists recognize this. A study by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/08\/10\/meet-the-fertility-org-funding-dystopian-embryo-experiments-across-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Society of Reproductive Medicine<\/a>, a leading IVF research institute, found that <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/26688429\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">only slightly more than 20 percent <\/a>of women at or over the age of 36 successfully carried a child from their frozen eggs to term.<\/p>\n<p>AOC tried to explain on her Instagram story why women may want to freeze eggs. \u201cThey haven\u2019t found their person,\u201d she suggested as one of many reasons, \u201cThey want to have a little bit of breathing room so that they don\u2019t feel pressured to enter parenthood with someone they otherwise wouldn\u2019t choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This may be true of AOC, considering she has been in a relationship with the same man <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/world\/us\/us-buzz\/who-is-riley-roberts-inside-aocs-decade-long-relationship-with-her-fiance-article-155426225\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">for more than a decade<\/a> (and engaged to him for four years) but shows no signs of getting married or starting a family any time soon. AOC even admitted in a recent Instagram story that she \u201csaved a long time for [egg freezing].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AOC is far from the only woman looking to push off starting a family while relying on cryopreservation for potential future fertility. The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology found that its member clinics executed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sartcorsonline.com\/rptcsr_publicmultyear.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">roughly 6,000 cycles for freezing eggs in 2014<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sartcorsonline.com\/rptcsr_publicmultyear.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly 39,000 in 2024<\/a>, which is more than a 500 percent increase over 10 years. The United Kingdom\u2019s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority found a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hfea.gov.uk\/about-us\/media-centre\/egg-freezing-a-factsheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">44 percent increase<\/a> in egg freezing just between 2022 and 2024. The same site found that the average age of a woman freezing her eggs was 35 and 40 when she thawed them.<\/p>\n<p>By the time AOC decides to have kids, it may be too late for her body, or even her fianc\u00e9\u2019s. A woman\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/myfertilityhub.com\/getting-pregnant-after-40-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chances of getting pregnant per cycle<\/a> drop dramatically after 30. By the early 40s, chances have moved from 20-25 percent to 5-10 percent. By 45, chances drop even further, to less than 3 percent. IVF treatments only slightly reset the clock, placing conception chances at \u201c20-25% per cycle\u00a0for women 40-42,\u201d and\u00a0\u201c5-10% after 43.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertstert.org\/article\/S0015-0282(22)01979-3\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ASRM study <\/a>on the healthiness of male sperm and its connection to mental defects in children found that \u201coffspring risks begin to emerge by a paternal age of 40 years and are formidable by a paternal age of 50 years.\u201d For example, the study found that the risk of bipolar disease increases considerably in children fathered by a man in his 40s to 50s.<\/p>\n<p>An increasingly common tactic AOC may utilize to prevent adverse effects on her potential future child is hiring a surrogate to carry her egg and using a younger man\u2019s sperm, or simply buying an embryonic child and using a surrogate. Either option exposes the modern dystopian world of fertility.<\/p>\n<p>A better and much more historically consistent option for modern women is to reject the AOC lifestyle and have children when the female and male bodies are primed for it, even if it results in career setbacks. Peak<a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthassoc.com\/insights\/fertility-age-statistics-reproductive-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> female fertility is in the 20s<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiraivf.com\/blog\/male-fertility-age-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the same is true of men<\/a>. Before IVF and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/08\/10\/if-youre-freezing-your-eggs-at-36-like-aoc-youve-been-lied-to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fourth-wave feminism<\/a>, having children around that time was the norm. The change to childbearing in one\u2019s 30s is relatively recent. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr74\/nvsr74-3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC article<\/a> found that in 1990, women less than 30 accounted for about 70 percent of births, but in 2023, they accounted for less than half.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr74\/nvsr74-3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC also found <\/a>that as women started having children later, fertility rates plummeted. American families hit the replacement rate at 2.1 children per family in 1990.
