He reportedly told faith leaders that he and President Trump are developing a national abortion ban, though progress has been slow. Blanche’s comments have been welcomed by anti-abortion advocates who see his confirmation as a sign the management will defend their goals, especially the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. wade. However, abortion-rights organizations view his appointment as a sign of potential aggressive action against abortion access, especially targeting the distribution of abortion pills like mifepristone. Activists are pressuring the DOJ to enforce laws banning mail-order abortions and to challenge policies allowing abortion drugs to be mailed into restrictive states. The anti-abortion movement hopes Blanche will enforce existing restrictions more strictly, including pursuing legal cases like Louisiana v. FDA. Conversely, some critics warn that political and legislative obstacles, like ongoing court challenges and limited Congressional action, may impede efforts to restrict abortion further. Blanche’s confirmation raises hopes among anti-abortion groups for increased legal actions to restrict abortion access, while pro-choice advocates remain wary of the potential for renewed crackdown.

Newly confirmed Attorney General Todd Blanche is helping ease tensions between the White House and anti-abortion groups, but movement leaders want action to back up his promises to further restrict abortion.

Blanche reportedly told faith leaders that he and President Donald Trump were working on a national abortion ban, but efforts were “taking longer than we want” during a prayer call hosted by the White House Faith Office.
