Instead, the 36-year-old democratic socialist plans to freeze her eggs so that sometime in the undefined future she can pay to get possibly get pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>Even more shocking than hearing that the Green New Deal architect who once asked if a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/robbystarbuck\/status\/2086794579575992368?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">climate change-induced end of the world<\/a> means it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/shortcuts\/2019\/feb\/27\/is-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-right-to-ask-if-the-climate-means-we-should-have-fewer-children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cOK to still have children\u201d<\/a> suddenly has plans to start her own brood is seeing her display the private and sensitive details of her family planning in an influencer-style \u201cget ready with me\u201d livestream over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want you all to see that. And because women can do anything, and I think it\u2019s bad-ss that I\u2019m going to be giving myself shots in the green room [as I] get my glam on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just not something that men deal with,\u201d AOC added. She conveniently omits that it\u2019s not something she <em>has<\/em> to \u201cdeal with\u201d either. <\/p>\n<p>AOC claims she\u2019s undergoing the expensive and physically painful process of egg cryopreservation so she can <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/09\/us-news\/aoc-starts-process-of-freezing-her-eggs-hints-at-2028-mindset-i-think-its-badass\/?utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=nypost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cfeel more in control of my life.\u201d<\/a> Contrary to the messaging that\u2019s permeated our culture since the start of the sexual revolution, however, fertility can\u2019t be controlled. Anyone pitching something that promises otherwise is simply selling a very pricey <em>illusion <\/em>of control.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to know if hormone shots in the greenroom is political stunt or legitimate attempt to preserve the potential for future pregnancy. Either way, AOC and everyone who believes her recitation about how egg freezing shows \u201cwomen can do anything\u201d are being duped by an industry that thrives on the lies\u00a0told by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/11\/10\/kelsea-ballerinis-i-sit-in-parks-exposes-the-heartbreak-of-buying-girl-boss-lies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fourth-wave feminism<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>No matter what AOC and celebrities say, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/05\/when-sperm-and-eggs-are-monetized-human-existence-becomes-transactional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sometimes traumatizing procedure<\/a> of harvesting and freezing ova for future in vitro fertilization (IVF) is no guarantee to motherhood. For one, egg cryopreservation is far less <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/09\/23\/health\/egg-freezing-age-pregnancy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">successful at yielding pregnancies later than advertised<\/a>. And in terms of egg freezing optimization, AOC is already behind.<\/p>\n<p>Egg utility notoriously diminishes in most women by the time they turn 30 years old. By 35, both females\u2019 egg quantity and quality are susceptible to a rapid decline. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/future\/article\/20240313-the-fertility-myth-most-advice-says-womens-fertility-declines-after-35-the-truth-is-more-complicated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one BBC article<\/a> plainly put it, 35 is the age when female \u201cfertility falls off a cliff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cFor those who do become pregnant later, there even are particular medical terms, including \u2018geriatric pregnancy\u2019 and \u2018advanced maternal age,\u2019 used to drive the point home,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/outlet-warns-trump-faces-backlash-if-maga-world-complains-about-taylor-swift-travis-kelce-coverage\/\" title=\"Outlet warns Trump may face backlash if his supporters complain about Taylor Swift\/Travis Kelce coverage in &#039;MAGA World\">article warns<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Also often omitted from the discourse about ova retrieval is that women who undergo it can suffer\u00a0side effects such as excessive bleeding, abdominal swelling, discomfort, weight gain, nausea, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnyfertility.com\/ivf-egg-retrieval\/#:~:text=The%20major%20side%20effects%20of,egg%20retrieval%20surgery%20is%20constipation.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infection<\/a>, problems urinating, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4467930\/#:~:text=Perhaps%20the%20most%20important%20medical,such%20as%20ovarian%20hyperstimulation%20syndrome.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jenniferschneider.com\/pdf\/JS%20FertStert%20Fatal%20Colon%20Cancer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fatal colon cancer<\/a>, a potential increased risk for <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28473127\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">breast cancer<\/a>, and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health-news\/donate-egg-become-infertile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sudden infertility<\/a>, which could further affect pregnancy potential.<\/p>\n<p>Chance of pregnancy is diluted even further for women who plan to try for motherhood with IVF, which is also marked by what one 2026 study called <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC12872396\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cdeclining efficiency\u201d over the last decade and a half<\/a>. Every embryo that fails to implant adds to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewtnnews.com\/world\/us\/more-human-embryos-destroyed-through-ivf-than-abortion-every-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">countless little lab-created lives<\/a> that are already sentenced to death by indefinite cryopreservation and discard.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/11\/21\/anti-natalists-at-nyt-want-you-to-think-ivf-is-the-only-way-to-have-a-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">what corporate media insist<\/a>, IVF isn\u2019t the only way women can have a career. And it certainly isn\u2019t the easiest path to parenthood. In many cases, reproductive technologies such as egg and sperm freezing and IVF  and the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KatieMiller\/status\/2086635844576723212?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cbabies by any means necessary\u201d ideology fueling their popularity<\/a> grant a false sense of security to men and women who think they can cheat their biological clock and further deter them from settling down and raising a family. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">AOC must not have heard of the case Brigitte Adams, the woman who appeared on the cover of Bloomberg Businessweek in 2014 under the headline, \u201cFreeze your eggs, Free your career.\u201d What happened to her was rather sad, even heartbreaking in a way. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/14O7Ae362E\">https:\/\/t.co\/14O7Ae362E<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QVsUpfKBPo\">pic.twitter.com\/QVsUpfKBPo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Daniel Davidson (@johnddavidson) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/johnddavidson\/status\/2086682026367914246?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>AOC\u2019s known her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marieclaire.com\/celebrity\/a25844313\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-boyfriend-riley-roberts\/?utm_medium=social-media&#038;utm_source=facebook&#038;utm_campaign=socialflowFBMAR&#038;fbclid=IwY2xjawTmrYtwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAGJyaWQRMVpwcDhRdUZ6ZTNBc1ZEeUFzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeaEx2j0yL4I_Ysy-F_Vm97SvDui8u09CefwOsDrk-j0obgaIjGnGLsxkWX74_aem_sNH2YTXazCPyKmewG9VJfg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">live-in beau<\/a> since her Boston University days in 2011 and has been engaged to him since 2022. If she wants kids, she could tie the knot today and start trying to conceive naturally. A husband and children would double AOC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/01\/study-having-a-husband-and-kids-doubles-womens-likelihood-of-being-happy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">likelihood of being happy.<\/a> Instead, she\u2019s indefinitely engaged and further delaying her pregnancy to pursue her career in the House of Representatives (and perhaps a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2028-election\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-potential-run-president-senate-rcna591590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">presidential run<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not an anomaly. Countless women for decades were told a career is more fulfilling than a family. As a result, many have spent <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/14\/its-time-to-stop-treating-assisted-reproductive-technology-as-a-quick-fix-for-infertility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oodles of dollars<\/a> trying to reconcile their desire to climb the corporate ladder with the limits of their biological clock. <\/p>\n<p>The consequences of this brainwashing have been vast. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccrmivf.com\/blog\/is-infertility-on-the-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Infertility is rising<\/a>, birth rates are <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/25\/american-birth-rates-rates-drop-to-levels-of-civilizational-suicide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dangerously low<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nber.org\/papers\/w29893\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unhappiness<\/a>, especially in single, childless females, persists. The solutions to these issues are widely and ferociously debated. All data suggests that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compactmag.com\/article\/get-married-young\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">getting married young<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/21\/5-benefits-of-marrying-long-before-you-own-a-house-and-establish-a-successful-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">optimizing your chances at natural conception<\/a> by trying for babies during peak fertility years can\u2019t hurt, though. <\/p>\n<p>Modern science has made it easier to increase or decrease chances of pregnancy, but no one person or technology can perfectly promise anyone a baby.
