He later shifted his stance on the Trump-backed legislation when it was amended to remove a provision that allowed voters without citizenship documentation to attest in writing that they are U.S. citizens in Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The House Democrat felt the provision\u2019s removal would not protect eligible voters without documentation, which is why he now opposes the legislation. In Hawaii, falsely attesting to U.S. citizenship on a voter registration form is a felony.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keohokalole pointed to Case\u2019s past support of the bill to argue that the incumbent was only doing President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"4\">Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> bidding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think appeasing Trump, when he\u2019s taking away the right to vote, one of the foundational freedoms in this country, is the wrong thing to do,\u201d Keohokalole said, according to Hawaii News Now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Case made the point that he will never be siding with his party on every vote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst of all, I\u2019m not a 100% voter with my party.
