He said tariffs and the war with Iran, which has pushed energy prices up, have exacerbated inflation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA point I would make of distinction is that the policies they\u2019re pursuing are inflationary,\u201d Negron said when comparing the Biden and Trump messaging challenges.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-3\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-17\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biden administration, for a time, worked to emphasize positive points in the economy, such as that it was adding jobs at a rapid clip and that the economy was expanding following the pandemic-induced slump. At one point, the team tried to make \u201cBidenomics\u201d a selling point, although that backfired as voters felt their concerns about the highest inflation in decades were being minimized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Negron drew comparisons to what happened then and what is happening now with the Trump team. Gross domestic product has been positive in Trump\u2019s second term, and businesses have generally added jobs, with the administration working to highlight those bright spots in the economy. However, inflation and affordability are still overshadowing all of that in the eyes of the electorate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd so it\u2019s a situation where they\u2019re confronted with a similar set of circumstances,\u201d Negron said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-4\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-25\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-4\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News this week, Vice President JD Vance was asked about what the Republican Party needs to do better when it comes to the cost of living and high energy costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think what it shows is that the past 40 years of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/liberal-strategist-democrats-should-mimic-donald-trumps-policies\/\" title=\"Liberal Strategist: Democrats Should Mimic Donald Trump&#039;s ...\">bipartisan economic policy<\/a> have failed,\u201d Vance responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump\u2019s economic approval ratings have fallen considerably since entering his second term, which he won in large part by messaging against the high inflation under Biden and promising to fix the affordability crisis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wex-inarticle-ad wex-inarticle-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\">\n<div class=\"wex-ad-wrap wex-ad-art-dsk-inart-5\" style=\"min-height:90px\"><span class=\"wex-ad-label\" hidden>Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-3182201-26\" data-wex-ad=\"art-dsk-inart-5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrew Bates, a former White House spokesman under Biden, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that running on driving down inflation and that outcome not coming to fruition is hurting the president and Republicans up and down the ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think that the main attitude is Trump owns his situation in a unique way, because he promised people explicitly that he would make prices go down as soon as he got into the White House,\u201d Bates said. \u201cWhereas with Biden, inflation went up around the world, and that, of course, became our biggest political problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And while Vance blamed 40 years of failed bipartisan economic policy, voters tend to blame the person in charge, according to Peter Loge, director of George Washington University\u2019s School of Media and Public Affairs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey elected him because the voters thought the president shared their anger,\u201d Loge told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cYou\u2019re telling me everything\u2019s fine. It\u2019s obviously not. You\u2019re out of touch.
